LastPass Warns on Password App Discovered in Apple App Store... The fake app looks similar to the legitimate LastPass app in its branding, and it could be stealing users' credentials. LastPass is warning its users about a fraudulent app found on the Apple App Store — called "LassPass Password Manager." LastPass is a password manager application — a tool that allows users to create multiple secure passwords and store them all in one place, behind one strong master password. Though the fake app closely resembles the official LastPass app in terms of branding and interface, upon closer inspection, the app features warning signs, including misspellings within its descriptions. The fraudulent app also only has one rating, and lists Parvati Patel as the developer; the legitimate LastPass app, meanwhile, has 52,300 ratings and lists LogMeIn as the developer. As a general user, it may be hard to weed out the fake apps. From a business perspective, monitoring for fake impersonating apps, website spoofing, and domain squatting should be part of the information security plan. #informationsecurity #apple #apps #cybersecurity

Hello Cyber Security Safety Team, Chelsea McMahon has found a great article regarding Password Manager vulnerabilities. Actually the password managers are not necessarily the vulnerability. The Vulnerability comes from us moving too fast! Password managers are designed to be a great way to keep passwords safe. You are able to download free and pay versions. The vulnerability is twofold: 1. Bad Actors are “offering” a free version that is “TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE” and they are just gathering your login and password details in their evil application. 2. Password Managers also name their “AMAZING” products using names close to the names of legitimate password managers. The attached article talks more about the vulnerabilities and offers some way to stay Cyber Safe. The main message… Slow down and stay aware when working with your technology. The River Run Cyber Security Team wishes you and your team a Cyber Safe week! Paul #cybersecurityevangelist #cybersecurity #passwordmanager
