I had the privilege of meeting with the President of the Republic of Chile, Gabriel Boric, at Jebel Ali Port. This momentous occasion marked the signing of a pioneering Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the United Arab Emirates and Chile. This strategic alliance ushers in a new era of economic cooperation, promising to significantly boost trade and investment between our two nations. By eliminating or reducing tariffs and creating favourable business conditions, this agreement will stimulate economic growth, generate jobs, and enhance the overall prosperity of both countries. Notably, our integrated platform in Jebel Ali, which combines port facilities with the Jafza free zone, can serve as a strategic gateway for Chilean companies to export their products to global markets via Dubai. DP World is committed to supporting Chilean businesses. Our port operations at Puerto Lirquén and San Antonio play a crucial role in facilitating the flow of diverse cargo, contributing significantly to Chile's robust trade ecosystem. We are excited to contribute to the development of Chile's logistics sector and look forward to a prosperous future together.

On Wednesday, our team had the privilege of attending the enlightening Corporate Council on Africa Council of Africa Summit, where we participated in a panel discussion. This session hosted by Prosper Africa delved deeper into the recently launched ‘Africa Trade Desk’. This platform explored the innovative, technological, and collaborative efforts transforming U.S.-Africa trade relations. The panel, expertly moderated by British Robinson, provided an in-depth look at how the US Africa Trade Desk is directly connecting African producers with the U.S. market. Gavin van der Burgh walked us through the mechanics of this demand-driven model, which is supported by major U.S. retailers. Jason Ferraro further enriched the discussion by highlighting how multicultural flavor profiles are increasingly influencing consumer choices in the USA. Shaquana “Shaq” Teasley - DBS, CCS, MSLR offered insights into overcoming regulatory challenges that African exporters face, and Matthew Bonner, COO of EAS Advisors, LLC, discussed the critical financial support the US Africa Trade Desk will provide to exporters meeting the demands of U.S. retailers. Over the past five years, non-oil trade between Dubai and Chile has reached AED 5.3 billion, showcasing robust growth and the potential for further collaboration. ☘ Minister Dara Calleary is traveling to Chile, Argentina and Peru as part of the Government’s St Patrick's Day programme 2024, promoting Ireland’s Future in the World. He will work towards strengthening our trading relationships.   ☘ Ireland’s trade with Chile has grown in value by over 250% in 10 years, to reach €860 million in 2022. Trade with Argentina has grown in value by over 170% in 10 years, to €1.2 billion in 2022.
