The amount of brokers that are coming out of the woods this year is INSANE. I’m not saying that it’s a bad thing, but what I am saying is if you are starting a brokering company, do it for the RIGHT reasons. DON’T just do it for the money. People can tell your intentions. Do it to help emerging brands. Give them the service they deserve. Do not take on 300 + brands at a time. Do not take on competitive brands. Do not lie about your relationships with certain accounts. Do not put them in every account. Give them a strategy. Do not tell them you can get them into an account tomorrow. CARE about their funds. Truly be an extension of their sales team. I’m the first to say what we are NOT good at when we are on potential new client calls. Jade Street Consulting Inc. was born FIVE years ago to change the broken brokering world and now everyone seems like they also want to “change it”. I’m ALL for BETTER brokers because there is room for everyone. But, what I’m NOT for is people and founders who don’t have integrity.
