Perfect on paper and in person.. but not perfect for the job. We recently hired a Senior Project Manager for an architectural millwork firm outside of Denver. He presented exceptionally, passed our extensive process, and had (multiple) incredible on-site conversations with ownership - even discussing an equity track in the near future. Yet, within two weeks of his start, he put in his notice as he was offered a different position he "couldn't pass up". This was a stark reminder that no matter how great a recruiter or hiring manager you are, we are still working with human beings. All parties involved were stunned.. except the candidate of course. We pride ourselves on a low refill rate - but sometimes we are reminded - people are people. This industry will never be black and white. It’s as much an art as it is a science. Sometimes, things happens. Always be wary of anyone promising 100% certainty in hiring. Embrace the human element and understand that unpredictability is part of the game. An effective search partner knows how to account for most variables - but it will never be absolute. (Don't worry - we already have submitted replacement candidates) . . . #hiring #recruiting #construction #bybmym

For those new to property management, here are three suggestions for recruiting top-notch employees to join the onsite management team of an apartment community: 1. Job Skills and Experience: First, when hiring, ensure that your employees have relevant job skills and experience in apartment management or real estate. Experience in property management is invaluable as it gives them the requisite knowledge and competence to handle day-to-day activities such as maintaining facilities, enforcing rules, dealing with complaints, and even emergency response. Verify this information during the interview and through references. 2. Look for Excellent Communication Skills: Good property managers need to be able to effectively communicate with a variety of people - from tenants and landlords to maintenance staff and other members of the management team. They need to be tactful, diplomatic and professional in their dealings. During the interview process, observe how the candidates articulate themselves, how well they listen and their general demeanor. 3. Consider Personality and Work Ethic: Your onsite management team will represent you to the tenants. Hence, look for candidates who are courteous, respectful, and professional. Their work ethic is also crucial - property management can often involve unsociable hours and responding to emergencies, so finding employees who are reliable, dedicated and capable of problem-solving is essential. #MultifamilyApartmentDoctor #PropertyManagement #NewEmployees #Tips

Hiring the Wrong HVAC Employee Could Cost You $50,000 Think about it: A bad hire doesn’t just cost you time. It costs your reputation, team morale, and—let's be real—cold hard cash. By the time you: ❌ Train them ❌ Deal with mistakes ❌ Rehire and retrain …you’ve already burned through $50,000 or more. Here's the truth: Bad hires come from bad processes. Not enough screening. Not asking the right questions. Or rushing the hire because you’re understaffed. Here’s my advice: Slow down, focus on fit, and have a proven hiring process. Need help with this? Do you think it's time to look for other opportunities? As a recruiter, I hear all different reasons for wanting to leave a job, or not to want to leave. But feeling appreciated and wanting to grow are 2 that stick out. Are you in a good culture with your current employer? I mention culture now because one of the top General Contractors in South Florida is one of our clients. I am working to fill several positions since they are growing and have projects in a few locations (they have multiple offices). That's just one reason why we love working with them. Great benefits, fun outings, and community involvement, and really value their team! They have asked us to fill the following: 1. Commercial Assistant Project Managers- need 1 for multifamily and 1 for general commercial- West Palm Beach 2. Commercial Senior Project Manager- Luxury Hospitality - West Palm Beach 3. Commercial Pre-construction Director- Need a dynamic leader-West Palm Beach 4. Residential Project Manager - Ultra Luxury Custom Homes- Miami #construction #constructionjobs #miamijobs #luxuryhome #assistantprojectmanager #projectmanagement #preconstruction #constructionhiring #southflorida Colin Estrem Zach Minott Niña Fuentes
