Everyone, say hello to Mathis Morris, Senior at the The University of Alabama majoring in #Economics.👋👋 💙😊This is Mathis’s third summer interning with #PeopleTec. He shared that he enjoys, “the freedom they have provided in allowing me to pursue projects in the way that I see fit. While my plans might not always work out, there is much to learn from smaller setbacks. The #culture here is also unlike any place I’ve ever worked at, and everyone I’ve met has an open-door policy and is more than willing to give advice for projects that might have gone amiss, or even for life advice which has proven to be useful to me.” 💡⚙️His mentor is Director, Jay Coquat! Mathis has been working on writing in #SQL database language and creating project documentation. He’s excited to learn more about SQL and #dataanalytics as he progresses in his projects, as well as work with the #RUBIX software. His projects focus on data analysis for various customers, converting database types for compatibility with RUBIX, cleaning and flattening out tables, and running Exploratory Data Analysis to better understand the data. 🚁⭐️Mathis recently visited the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (#Airborne) customer site. The 160th SOAR(A) is our longest-standing RUBIX customer and a pioneer in advanced Army Aviation analytics. They provide Special Operations support to USSOCOM across all service branches at a moment’s notice, leveraging highly modified helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles. We are supremely proud of the elite support they provide and our support to this highly capable warfighting unit. 🇺🇸Mathis met many active-duty #Warfighters, along with civilians and contractors, learning that many have supported the organization for more than 30 years. He also saw many specialized #aircraft and reflected on those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, enshrined at the Night Stalker Memorial Wall (pictured). #PeopleFirst #TechnologyAlways #Interns #Intership #Technology #Innovation

🚀 Exciting Times Ahead! 🚀 Reflecting on my 24-year journey in the Air Force, I’m filled with gratitude for the opportunities it provided. Enlisting in 2000, the Air Force allowed me to find stability while exploring various roles, which was crucial for someone who had 12 jobs before enlisting! The military helped me discover my strengths and passions. Education has been another incredible benefit. Through on-the-job training and Tuition Assistance, I earned 2 Associate’s degrees, a Bachelor’s degree, and 2 Master’s degrees, mostly without cost. Now, as I prepare to retire from active duty, I’m thrilled to announce my next step: a SkillBridge internship with an aerospace and defense company. This four-month experience will allow me to transition smoothly into the private sector, giving the company a chance to see if I’m a good fit. Why I believe I’ll succeed: 1️⃣ Teamwork: Military units thrive on teamwork, and I’m confident these principles will apply in any work environment. 2️⃣ Adaptability: The Air Force taught me to be flexible and thrive in diverse assignments. 3️⃣ Continuous Learning: My extensive education journey taught me how to learn and adapt to new challenges. Yes, it’s a bit nerve-wracking to step away from the security of military service, but I know my experiences have prepared me for this moment. I’m ready to continue being a great teammate, adapting to new environments, and learning every step of the way. Here’s to new beginnings! 🌟 #CareerTransition #MilitaryToCivilian #SkillBridge #Aerospace #Defense #Teamwork #Adaptability #ContinuousLearning

Have you seen the recently released 2023 Veteran Opportunity Report? Based on LinkedIn data and insights, it highlights common challenges that Veterans face during post military transition, such as: * Low internship rates * Underappreciated military experience * Persistent retention myths This comprehensive study provides policymakers and employers with important information to help shape Veteran-friendly hiring practices, policies, and programs. According to the report's findings, Veterans bring highly sought-after skills to their first civilian job and have higher retention rates within the first six months compared to non-Veterans. Despite these advantages, Veterans face challenges gaining leadership positions in companies generally not valuing military experience as much as non-military work experience. The NSRI #strategicdeterrence interns focused on research for joint electromagnetic spectrum operations (JEMSO) recently presented to Lockheed Martin leaders. Gael Perez, an electrical engineering major at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, said he and his peers considered the experience a "pivotal moment" in their professional development. Their research aims to create technology that will significantly reduce or eliminate unwanted radio frequency (RF) signals within a defined spectrum. Considering how crowded the RF environment is becoming with wireless communications, doing this will better improve both the clarity and reliability of priority DOD signals. The interns' presentation was a culmination of weeks of preparation, and the feedback from Lockheed Martin was constructive and encouraging, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement. It emphasized the importance of continuous improvement and storytelling in presentations and motivated the interns to enhance their skills further, incorporating feedback into practice sessions, focusing on audience engagement, and seeking guidance to ensure impactful presentations. "Beyond developing our professional skills, this experience underscored the value of collaboration and teamwork," Gael said. "By pooling our diverse expertise and perspectives, we were able to craft a presentation and a well-detailed conference paper that was greater than the sum of its parts. "Working at NSRI has been an incredible journey, particularly in presenting complex briefings to industry leaders with the guidance of our coordinator, Chris Luther. His expertise has been instrumental in refining our presentations to meet high standards." --- More details about this summer's NSRI interns ➡ https://lnkd.in/g88vwTfe. 📸 NSRI interns with Maj. Gen., USAF (Ret.) ‼️ “The Commander’s Dilemma ‼️ The military’s insufficient emphasis on transition is manifested in its most crucial form among commanders, or those individuals tasked with leading military operations, organizations, and personnel. ❇️ In short, supporting transition conflicts with these commanders’ primary and most essential responsibility—maintaining mission readiness. ❇️ When service members are valuable contributors to their units, the need to keep them on duty can seem of greater importance to a commander than the service member’s post-military future. ⚠️⚠️⚠️ One example of this dilemma relates to service members’ participation in a Department of Defense (DoD) program such as SkillBridge, which provides participants with work experience through job training, internships, or apprenticeships. … Some service members report that commanders deny SkillBridge requests because of the importance of maintaining mission readiness, although data documenting reasons for such denials has not been systematically collected. A recent report from the Government Accountability Office (GAO)27 found that service members face similar barriers when seeking access to the Transition Assistance Program (TAP), which may explain why so few complete this required program on time.” ⁉️See comments for solutions from the VJC

Demographic Data: Data show there are 82.5% men and 17.5% women, with a demographic mix that mirrors the general population. All of these military people have attributes, experience, skill sets, and a proven track record that employers need. Source: https://lnkd.in/eygjBZ3E RTHP Recruiting Data: Our internal data show that 500 (33%) are considering a Skillbridge internship with employers and 600 (40%) intend to use fully-funded education benefits at some point now or in the future. For Employers: Skillbridge is a military version of an internship, apprenticeship, and training program that lowers costs, eliminates hiring risk, improves talent, and accelerates time to productivity. The most common categories we have engaged with so far in 2024: Junior/Senior Project Managers. Finance. Logistics. Supply chain. Skilled Trades. Engineers. Cyber. IT. Leadership. Training. Congressional and Government Affairs. Medical. For Learning Institutions: with a demographic and demand cliff already affecting enrollments, it makes sense to attract fully-funded students now for Academic Year 2025-2026 and beyond. We have established digital marketing and in-person talent recruitment for military-connected students – have you? If your institution only focuses on the GI Bill but doesn’t know about 3 other key sources of Department of Defense or Veterans Administration funding, ask Return To Home Port™! Wow. 🙁 Please share if you can, so we can figure out how best to support our retiring Army personnel and help them enter the civilian workforce in the smoothest way possible. Thank you 🧡 "In a surprising and contentious move, some #Army commands are now denying #retirement-eligible soldiers the opportunity to participate in critical career transition programs, citing Army Regulation 600-81. These programs, designed to ease the transition from military to civilian life, include the Career Skills Program (#CSP) and the Department of Defense (DoD) #SkillBridge program. While these initiatives provide soldiers with valuable opportunities for pre-apprenticeships, apprenticeships, on-the-job training, employment skills training, and internships, interpretations of the regulation is leading to the exclusion of a significant group of service members. This article delves into the specifics of #ArmyRegulation600-81, its intended purpose, and the troubling trend of barring retirement-eligible soldiers from participating in these essential programs." Thank you Rate My Skillbridge for the information and keeping our TSM updated. https://lnkd.in/eMy_erdi

Since I applied for an internship at WargamingForge in Partnership Development for World of Warships, I found myself searching for Books on naval history and battleships. And no, this post is definitely not aimed at the hiring team at WargamingForge... 😉 As I reflect on my exploration of naval history, I'm struck by the parallels between past and present. Just as alliances and partnerships were critical in shaping the outcome of historical conflicts, collaboration and strategic alliances are essential in the competitive landscape of gaming and entertainment. At World of Warships, where players command iconic naval vessels in epic battles, forging partnerships with like-minded organizations can unlock new opportunities for growth and innovation. #NavalHistory #PartnershipDevelopment #WorldOfWarships #InternshipGoals #Wargaming
