Imagine that you teach from a textbook that is perfectly designed to guide students through the various teaching stages throughout the classroom session. In that scenario, please address the following: What additional responsibilities should the educator consider beyond simply managing the classroom, providing instructions, and eliciting ideas or responses from students? What other types of teaching approaches or methods should the educator incorporate, even if the textbook already covers the core content and learning objectives?"

Long post alert 🚨 We are thrilled to announce that our director, Melanie Moore, has written and published her first book with Routledge Taylor & Francis Group, Curriculum Simplexity. It's been a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, but Mel has produced something of quality to inspire and guide future teachers. We would really be grateful if friends of Cornerstones could share this post with their networks. ❤️ About the book 📖 Drawing from her 30+ years of experience as a primary educator, working as a classroom teacher, Deputy Headteacher, and curriculum leader, Mel collected her thoughts, insights, challenges and understanding of curriculum and created a must-have guide for educators. Curriculum Simplexity offers a practical and systematic planning aid, guiding readers through building a robust, coherent whole-school curriculum. Divided into a series of easily digestible chapters and filled with templates, worked examples and planning formats, this book unpacks the process of creating a curriculum. Topics explored include, but are not limited to: – 💙 The importance of pedagogy – ⭐ Good subject leadership – 🔗 Building a Curriculum Progression Framework – 🗒 Implementing, delivering and evaluating your curriculum – 📊 Assessment Releasing two weeks today (30th of September) you can pre-order her book here: https://bit.ly/3XuDnXm #primarycurriculum #publishling #practicalguides

It's been an absolute pleasure to get a real insight into the development of this book and to help out Melanie Moore where I could. I found it easy to understand for someone like me, who has never been an active teacher but has worked in education for ten years. Mel is incredibly good at explaining things plainly, which is one of the reasons I like the Cornerstones' curriculum so much. This is definitely a must-have for any ITE University course. #ITECourses #PracticalGuide #CurriculumDesign

James Nottingham, FRSA created “The Learning Pit” in 2010 and I have been an advocate of his work ever since. His new book Teach Brilliantly https://lnkd.in/e9_mS8fU is an enlightening exploration about why teachers need to choose the best research-informed strategies with the biggest impact because of the short time they have with their learners. Equally, teachers have such little time to read so they must choose what they read carefully. This book is a wise choice.
