Molly Ness, PhD breaks it all down in her must-read book for K-5 educators. 📚 This book dives into how readers embed words into long-term memory and offers a simple, research-based, 4-step routine to connect decoding, encoding, and meaning. The result? Students lift words off the page with confidence, improving both reading and writing skills. 💡 Interested in learning more with Molly? Mindless teaching is unsustainable teaching. When teachers cannot articulate specifically what students are learning--and why they are learning it--teachers inevitably get lost in the "stuff and the things," as one of my principals likes to say. They get lost in the resources and doing exactly what the book says. We don't want teachers who simply teach by the book. We want teachers who teach full of mind.

I always like to read the table of contents and the first couple of chapters to get a feel for original work. These resources may appeal if you are interested in ideas to chew on when re-purposing budgets, roles, schedules, assessment - all within the context of bold and engaging curriculum. Interest attracts learners to new and unfamiliar things, motivating them to immerse in and grow from the novelty. We can ignite a lifelong curiosity by introducing novel ideas, linking content to learner passions, and sharing teachers'/trainers' enthusiasm. Discover practical strategies to spark interest in my (free) e-book, Positive Emotions in Teaching and Learning (refer to my About section or send a personal message to me for the book link). Let’s spark curiosity in every learner! :) Image by Lothar Dieterich from Pixabay.
