We are very excited to announce that Becky Kostka has joined PGL’s Alberta Office! Becky is of Rani, Norse, Celtic, and Reindeer Herding ancestry and currently lives in Treaty 7, southern Alberta. For the last eight years, she lived in Tthebacha Náre, Denendeh (Fort Smith, NWT) Treaty 8 and worked with the Tthebatthı Dënésułıné (Smith’s Landing First Nation / SLFN) as their Lands & Resources Manager as well as the Director of the Slave River Coalition. During her time with SLFN, Becky assisted the Nation in building programs to protect and assert Treaty and Aboriginal rights and restore and resurge Dëné Ch'anıe (sacred concept defining Dënésułıné worldview). At PGL, Becky will support the Environmental Planning Group to build stronger relationships with First Nation, Inuit, and Metis clients. She will assist clients in opening and holding space to restore and/or enhance governance; build trauma-informed resiliency/leadership; facilitate community-led programs with meaningful legacy outcomes; and work with communities to undertake culturally appropriate and respectful research and assessments where desired.
