We're pleased to announce that our annual conference returns in its regular October slot for the fourth time later this year. We launched the conference in 2021 during the COVID-19 lockdown. The virtual format proved so successful that we stuck with it when the world returned to normal. Over 300 people participated in last year's free event, which was generously supported by NES Fircroft, Centuro Global, ERM, Fluor Corporation, Organic P&O Solutions Ltd, Taylor Woodrow, ECITB, Hexagon AB, Johnson Matthey, Kent, Murphy, Petrofac, ACOSTE, the Energy Institute, the IChemE Safety Centre, and the Tank Storage Association. Congrats to NV Energy, California ISO, and other participants on NVE's great decision to move forward with EDAM -- big news for the western grid! A day-ahead market will bring substantial operational and economic benefits to NVE customers and the expanded footprint will continue to elevate EDAM benefits for all participants. A recent Brattle study commissioned by NVE estimates EDAM participation could bring ratepayer benefits in the tens of millions of dollars ($60-150mm). More importantly, this is a critical step on the path to NVE participation in a regional ISO -- a transition which will unlock even greater savings by reducing the capacity investments necessary for a clean, reliable western grid, savings likely to dwarf the aforementioned operational benefits. For Nevada, this will come both from increased resource sharing for NVE customers - access to wind and water resources complementing its solar and storage fleet - but also through NVE's future role as a renewable energy powerhouse with some of the best solar and geothermal resource potential in the world ready for expansion and export to neighboring states. The company ERMA FIRST is a Greek ballast water treatment specialist and they have signed a letter of intent (LoI). This LoI is between ERMA FIRST and Capital Gas Ship Management Corp., who is a compatriot ship management company and Babcock who is a British engineering company. The purpose of this LoI is for ERMA FIRST to install its carbon capture and storage (CCS) system onboard four new liquefied CO2 (LCO2) carriers.
