The backlot at Pinewood was converted into a classic slice of small-town American life for 'Supergirl', released #OnThisDay 40 years ago in UK cinemas. #ShotAtPinewood it was, at the time, one of the largest exterior sets built at the studio. A spin-off to the 'Superman' film series, which also shot at the Studios, it starred Helen Slater and Faye Dunaway and featured multiple outdoor flying sequences.
Was this featured in the movie ' Morons from Outer Space.'. with the cast from the BBC Not the Nine 'o' Clock News comedy.. I remember the late Mel Smith in an American town after escaping from the lunatic asylum..?
It may not be remembered as the greatest but God did I love this film growing up.
Great set, Remember when you were able to wonder around sets in the lunch hour,
Rotolight was based at Pinewood for a number of used. Saw some fantastic work done on sets and props and a few famous faces too!
Great set remember it well…,
Good to know.
Love the history of Pinewood and the incredible films shot on the backlot. Superman, Batman, Supergirl, etc.
This is so cool!

3moI based my design studio at Pinewood for a number of years in the main building. Some of the happiest days of my career. Some wonderful oldies back then ran the studio; including Robin who ran the tenants and Steve Jaggs. It's where I met and become friends with incredible producer Elliott Kastner. And because of him moved to writing and directing.
