Architecture is all about creativity and optimizing design functionality. Adding pops of colors, using innovative techniques, and incorporating various lights and shadows are all different ways to achieve great architecture. But sometimes the best design elements are found in nature. Integrating nature and wildlife into your designs can create more sustainable projects and environments. Not only will these buildings blend beautifully with their surroundings, they'll also bring us closer to nature. Learn more about "rewilding" architecture, its benefits, and its downfalls in this article: https://hubs.la/Q02zTRV20 #modernarchitecture #sustainabledesign #sustainablematerials #architecture #architectureanddesign #sustainability #biophilicdesign

The social media function of marketing is very much not my favorite... never has been. But running point on strategy and building content for EDSA, Inc. has actually become a creative outlet for me. Crazy to see the growth of our channels (and the growth of my non-hatred towards social) that has happened over the years. A lot of which can be contributed to the trust my colleagues have had in me to digitally build the brand. A big thanks to my team for believing in all my weird ideas, allowing me to verbally attack them for content (#sorrynotsorry) and for always trusting the process. From creation to execution, social media will always be a team effort. #socialmedia #teamwork #award
EDSA is humbled to be recognized by Land8: Landscape Architects Network and American Society of Landscape Architects as one of the top social media accounts across the profession for the fourth year in a row! A big thank you to our audience and employees for the constant support as we continue using our platform to educate and inspire. PART 3: HOW TO FIND THE PERIMETER OF A RECTANGLE In the final installment of our series, we demonstrate two methods to calculate the perimeter of a rectangular space - a key skill in resource management and planning. Whether by direct addition or by applying the formula 2x(length+width), the result is a precise 32 feet. This knowledge is vital for professionals in landscaping, architecture, and urban planning. #ResourceManagement #MathInRealLife #PlanningSkills

Retrofitting for Life Science: Victoria House, 02 The Process With retained tenants at levels 4 and 6, we had to ensure that the works could be carried out with minimal disruption to the occupied floors. Throughout the design process, we mitigated opening works through Ferro-scanning, distributed major plant support via the existing atria and suspended intermediate plant levels from the upper floor, to reduce disruption. We strengthened floors to achieve footfall for life science usage through vibration testing and by linking the floors with steel posts, which can be easily removed in the future, should the requirements of the building change in the future. Swipe across to see. Follow for part three and learn about the impact. If today’s Déclaration de Chaillot is on your radar (as it will be for attendees at this month's International Mass Timber Conference), then you’re looking for ways to advance #buildingdecarbonization and #resilience, and you're probably looking for ways to amplify that message. As it happens, my newest book Against the Grain: Mass Timber in the Home is something you can pre-order now to help spread the word that architects are leading the charge. Showcasing 11 architectural projects around the world, Against the Grain reveals why #masstimber is a great strategy to #decarbonize a building industry with #renewable materials that give steel a run for its money. There are also broader economic and environmental goals at play for this $1 billion mass timber industry—not to mention daring designs for single- and multi-family homes on the road to 2030 and beyond. But, don’t take my word for it. Take the word of Jennifer Castenson. In her thoughtful foreword, she mentions the visionary #architects at the forefront of mass timber—a “transformative movement”—who continue to boldly test “the boundaries of home design and expanding the horizons of performance capabilities.” I couldn’t agree more, and that’s exactly what you can expect to read about in Against the Grain: Mass Timber in the Home, published by Schiffer Publishing Ltd. later this year. If you know someone who cares about design and you want to show them what #decarbonization can look like, pre-order Against the Grain today. It features the work of Susan Jones, Jennifer Bonner, Ty Tikari, Andrew Waugh, Amin Taha, LSW Architects, PC, Veit Pedit, Fiona Dunin, Helen & Hard, Pool Leber Architekten, MAATworks, and others! https://shorturl.at/sFMNS https://shorturl.at/jqBV7

I love what is happening in the world right now. The architectural horizon is about to be redefined with the unveiling of the world's tallest wooden skyscraper! Perth, Australia, is setting the pace, boldly illustrating that a sustainable future is not just a dream but a tangible reality we can shape! This jaw-dropping skyscraper, named C6 (not crazy about that), is a testament to the immense potential of sustainable architecture. With a whopping 42% of its materials being timber, this project challenges conventional building norms while making a solid case for a greener, more innovative future. Kudos to Fraser and Partners for breaking boundaries and sharing their vision openly, encouraging a ripple effect in the industry. The future of building is here, and it's tall, timbered, and terrific! https://lnkd.in/dwnrEkGc #SustainableArchitecture #TallTimberTrendsetter #GreenSkiesAhead #InnovateOrEvaporate
