On Monday, we celebrate 🇨🇦 and our 157th birthday, I wanted to share what Canada Day means to me: 1. National Pride: It’s a day to celebrate Canadian culture, achievements, and values. 2. Historical Reflection: Many take the time to reflect on the history of Canada, including its founding and development over the years. 3. Cultural Diversity: Canada Day often highlights the country’s multiculturalism and the contributions of various communities. 4. Family and Community: It’s a time for gatherings, parades, fireworks, and other local/national events. 5. Acknowledgement of Indigenous Peoples: Increasingly, there’s recognition of the complex history and the need to acknowledge and reconcile with the Indigenous peoples of Canada. What does Canada Day mean to you personally? Please post in the comment section.

Nicaragua is just an example. Why do you think there’s a proposed tax coming for wanting to migrate from Canada? Those who want to make a better life for themselves could face thousands in taxation for wanting to leave the country. That speaks volumes in regards to people wanting to leave Canada in general. There’s always been a snowbird migration and others seeking a different lifestyle and always will be. But now, the migration is in search of a better life period. A more manageable cost of living seems to be outweighing a potential dangerous situation in some cases. Mr. Polievre, your catch phrases and campaign slogans are great. How will you answer the tough questions you ask in parliament? What is your plan to “bring it home” and “axing the tax” to get Canada out of the 6’ hole the liberal party has already dug?
MP for Carleton, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, and running to be Prime Minister of Canada
People used to flee Nicaragua to come to Canada. After 9 years of Trudeau, Canadians flee to go there. Wow.

Canada Day, marks the joyous anniversary of Canada's confederation in 1867 and it is a day that brings Canadians together. For Indigenous communities, Canada Day has historically been a complex occasion, reflecting on the colonial past and its impacts. However, there's an inspiring and growing movement towards reconciliation and healing. This journey is encouraging collaboration and mutual respect, acknowledging the rich contributions of Indigenous cultures and perspectives of what Canada is. Today, there is optimism and hope as efforts are made to honor Indigenous voices, support their sovereignty, and celebrate their traditions alongside all Canadians. This shared commitment to a brighter, inclusive future is transforming Canada Day into a celebration where everyone can come together with joy and respect. Companies like CIC Inspection & Consulting Ltd. are contributing to this positive future by promoting inclusive practices and supporting diverse communities. Here are some interesting facts about Canada Day: 1. **Birth of a Nation**: Canada Day marks the anniversary of the confederation of Canada on July 1, 1867, when the British North America Act (now known as the Constitution Act) came into effect, uniting the colonies of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the Province of Canada (which became Ontario and Quebec). 2. **Originally Called Dominion Day**: The holiday was originally called Dominion Day until it was renamed Canada Day in 1982, following the passage of the Canada Act which gave Canada full sovereignty from the United Kingdom. 3. **Nationwide Celebrations**: Canada Day is celebrated with various events and activities across the country, including parades, fireworks, concerts, and barbecues. The largest celebration is held in Ottawa, the capital city, featuring performances, cultural displays, and a massive fireworks show.

Today as we celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day, we reflect on the many contributions Indigenous people have made to Canada. As an organization and as individuals, we recognize and respect: - The diversity of Indigenous cultures and worldviews and their roles in Canada’s past, present, and future. - Our collective responsibility to share natural resources revenues and close gaps in socio-economic conditions between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. - Our role in the journey towards reconciliation by advancing Indigenous knowledge systems in all our work. - Our privilege to live, work, and play on Indigenous land.

Canada proudly embraces a thriving Caribbean-Canadian community of over 800,000, with more than half residing in Ontario, exemplifying the nation's rich tapestry. The Caribbean's 42 distinct nations have transformed their painful history of colonialism, slavery, and indentured servitude into a vibrant cultural mosaic, weaving together Amerindian, African, Asian, South American, and European ancestries, and six official languages. This remarkable heritage shines through the Caribbean Heritage Month symbol and flag. Caribbean-Canadians have forged lasting bonds with Canada since the 1700s, making profound contributions across various sectors, from science and education to arts and culture. October marks a pivotal month, commemorating the Immigration Act's 1967 amendments and the 1971 Multiculturalism Policy, which welcomed Caribbean individuals to build a life in Canada. Today, Caribbean-Canadians continue to enrich Ontario's social, economic, and cultural landscape, cementing its status as a multicultural haven. By proclamation, October is declared Caribbean Heritage Month, celebrating this enduring legacy.

I don’t usually post personal things on LinkedIn, but today, as I celebrate Canada Day, I find myself reflecting on this incredible country’s past, present, and future, as well as my family’s place in it. Not many people know this, but I was not born in Canada. My parents immigrated to Canada when I was young, and I watched them make countless sacrifices and work long hours in odd jobs just to get our family by. They did this because they believed in the Canadian dream. I am a living embodiment of that dream. The level of social mobility I have experienced within my relatively short lifetime would have been impossible anywhere else. Regardless of whether someone immigrated 20 years ago or 200, the dream has always been the same. For millions of people, both in-country and abroad, Canada is a beacon of hope—hope for a just and free society, and hope that no matter who you are and where you come from, a better future is possible. I recognize that Canada is not perfect. Like many countries, it has a complex history full of injustice and tragedy. However, we, as a society, have recognized these mistakes and are actively working to do better. Canada has made tremendous progress, and that is the true hallmark of any great nation. I love Canada, but I am also concerned for its future. The freedom and democracy we often take for granted were hard-fought and, if not protected, can easily be lost. The Canadian dream is becoming increasingly out of reach. The values and unity that made this country great are slowly eroding. Nevertheless, like my parents, and generations of Canadians before them, I have hope that a better future is possible. With that, I would like to wish my network a joyful Canada Day and a happy birthday to the greatest country in the world!
