It’s World Health Worker Week! Today we hear from Dr. Miora, Chief Health Center Physician: “Being a health worker is not easy, but, for me, it is a gift. It requires courage, confidence, humility, and sacrifice. As healthcare providers, we have a professional code of ethics for healing patients without discrimination - whether they are rich, poor, short, or tall. It makes me proud to provide care to others, regardless of their circumstances. Every day, my role as a health worker contributes to both my personal development and to the betterment of my country.” Pivot invests in #SafeSupportedHealthWorkers because we know that they are the key to achieving global health targets, ensuring health system resilience, and providing lifesaving services around the world. Follow along this #WHWWeek as we amplify the voices of those whose daily work is vital to the wellbeing of communities across Madagascar.

A sad day for healthcare in New Zealand with Health New Zealand’s board being disbanded. We’re seeing a lot of finger-pointing from both sides of the political spectrum right now. This blame game is counterproductive and does nothing to serve the needs of New Zealanders who will be directly impacted. Healthcare in New Zealand is near breaking point and there is not enough funding to meet the needs of our most vulnerable. This proves that employers need to step up and fill the gap by supporting their people. Organisations can't function without healthy employees, and this decision could potentially harm our workforce even further. Our nation is facing a complex health crisis. People are grappling with a wide range of challenges, from mental and physical health issues to the overwhelming financial strain caused by our healthcare system. The solutions to these issues are equally complex, and it's clear our current approach isn't working. So support your people to seek the help they need, when and how they need it, and let’s not let this crisis become an ever-bigger issue for everyday Kiwis. We need to make the health and wellbeing of our nation a priority, people deserve to access these services in a way that uplifts and respects them. #healthcare #healthcareequality #healthinequity #mentalhealth #wellbeing

Founder The Wellbeing Foundation Africa, Global Health Amb WHO Foundation, Advocate, RMNCAH+N, Social Care, EmONC, WASH, Rise of Women & Girls. Mrs, Mother, Grandma!
My Health, My Right Today, as we commemorate World Health Organization Health Day 2024, it is crucial to address the pressing need to safeguard our right to health, as across Africa and the globe, the fundamental right to health and wellbeing for millions is facing increasing threats from diseases, disasters, and conflicts, while the climate crisis exacerbates with every passing day. The WHO Council on the Economics of Health for All has highlighted that while over 140 countries recognise health as a human right in their constitutions, many fail to translate this into actionable laws ensuring access to essential health services. Alarmingly, more than half of the world's population lacks full coverage for these services, and it is imperative to confront these challenges head-on while actioning for Universal Health Coverage #UHC. As Inaugural Global Health Ambassador for the WHO Foundation a Special Advisor of the WHO AFRO - Expanded Special Project for Elimination of Neglected Tropical Diseases (ESPEN) Independent Advisory Group and a #PMNCH Expert of the #MNCH Workstream, I am committed to championing the universal entitlement and right of everyone, everywhere to have access to quality health services, education, and wellbeing information, as well as safe drinking water and sanitation #WASH, clean air, proper nutrition, quality housing, decent working and environmental conditions, and freedom from discrimination. The Wellbeing Foundation Africa's frontline community based #PSHE programming prioritises and promotes patient autonomy and integrity, empowering individuals and their families to become a partner in their journey of care, while advocating for policy changes, identifying necessary solutions, promoting health as a foundational aspect of the broader human rights frameworks, investing in health as the bottom line depends on it and delivering on the right to health by ensuring accessible, acceptable, and quality health services for all. #WorldHealthDay #MyHealthMyRight #HealthForAll #WellbeingForAll #PublicHealth

Industry professional advocating for community pharmacy and their patients through networks, partnerships and collaboration
Thank you Susanne ( Susi ) Tegen, Lisa Wylde and the team from the National Rural Health Alliance for such an informative conference. As I head home I reflect on the many inspiring speakers- some who have always worked rural and remote and others who are “putting their feet in the dirt” and experiencing the many opportunities and challenges of health in rural and remote settings. Rural communities are the lifeblood of agriculture, mining and tourism significantly contributing to economic outputs of Australia- yet the amount of health budget spend per person is lower than their city counterparts. Rural and remote communities are resourceful as are the healthcare practitioners who serve these communities, looking for novel approaches for healthcare solutions. Without greater support and recognition from Government at all levels to work collectively many programs become unsustainable and attribute to burnout and turnover of #hcps. Funding is siloed and rigid not allowing for the unique challenges of providing healthcare in rural and remote settings. In turn communities are sicker and less productive- people leave and communities shrink. Health underpins community viability, resilience and innovation #ruralhealth #ruralandremotehealth #ruralhealthworkers #communitypharmacy #ruralpharmacy

Key takeways from new HPP Journal LSHTM supplement on external assistance for health, as highlighted in its editorial by Susan Powers Sparkes Zubin Cyrus Shroff & Kara Hanson > https://lnkd.in/eb_N9XYG 1️⃣ Acknowledge a changing global donor landscape: Shift focus from displacing domestic funds to investing in common goods for health, like surveillance systems. Emphasize South-South learning and acknowledge emerging donors like China. 2️⃣ Prioritize country-level engagement: Empower local decision-making, address donor-recipient power imbalances and foster trust for sustained health coverage. 3️⃣ Design external assistance for sustained coverage: Adapt aid to diverse contexts, prioritize transparency in domestic financial systems and align with national health structures. #GlobalHealth #SustainableAssistance #HealthPolicy

Public Health: From ‘evidence-based’ towards ‘value-based’ public health: measuring what matters most. The need for sustainable spending and investment in health and wellbeing is compelling in the face of multiple challenges currently threatening the health of populations. Our health and wellbeing is influenced by a wide range of determinants at a social, environmental, and economic level. The field of ‘social value’ (combining social, economic, and environmental impacts) measurement presents potential solutions, largely pioneered outside the health/public health domain, within philanthropy, the third sector, and more recently the housing sector. Applying a Value-Based approach to spending and investing in health and public health can help achieve more sustainable, wider evidence informed, and person-centred health and care systems, which focus on what matters most to people, communities, and societies. #value #publichealth https://lnkd.in/dg2C64Ef

Partners In Health is not an average NGO. PIH founders established the organization more than 30 years ago based on a simple, yet radical, idea: Health care is a human right 🧡 From Haiti to Rwanda, our global teams do whatever it takes to make our patients well. None of this work is simple--but none of it is impossible. And all of it is essential! Here are five elements that make PIH unique: https://bit.ly/48A38da
