Chief Storyteller | Video Production that Increases Awareness & Impact for Nonprofits, Associations, and Foundations | dmbpictures.com
As we close out this first month of the New Year, you might be thinking about how your New Year’s resolutions are going (if you made them.) One thought to share via a recent video we created for the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC)… Rather than thinking about resolutions, figure out your “Why.” Knowing your why will help guide everything else you do in life. We created this #video to help inspire the next generation of leaders and providers who work in community health centers to keep going and continue this important work. My “Why” is getting to work with #missiondriven organizations and sharing the important work they do through emotional stories on film. I love it when we can create something amazing to help further their purpose. Why do you get up each morning? What motivates you to keep going?

How are you managing conflict in your workplace? Not personal conflict, or an issue you have with a desk buddy…I’m talking conflict that pulls resources away from patients and re-focuses your attention. We know that team conflict in health has potential to impact patient care and Cullati et. al. (2019) explored how quality care is impacted because of conflict. https://lnkd.in/gbBmCNFk

“Have you gotten your breasts checked out recently?” Not exactly the best icebreaker, right? Unfortunately, healthcare often feels this abrupt. Instead, we should remember to start with muffins before mammograms. Build rapport before diving into serious, personal discussions—you can’t have intimate conversations without trust. But how? We’re all awkward and generally waiting to speak. Don’t. Listen. A good start is to understand where someone is coming from and intentionally listen to their pain points and needs. People are much more than their member ID or statistics. They need to feel heard and understood before you can offer timely and effective care. Our health and social care systems need to prioritize building strong relationships. The challenge lies in finding the space and time to reach these busy, hard-to-find families. That’s where Fabric Health comes in—to meet families where they are, in the time they have.

Some great insights here from Georgina Jamieson, Team Member and Exercise Physiologist at Acumen Health, on ways veterans can keep connected this Veteran’s Health Week. 👥 #1 Be social It’s important to engage with friends, family, and community members. Simple conversations with neighbours or during routine errands can significantly impact social well-being. 💻 #2 Embrace technology With countless communication platforms at our disposal, it's important for veterans to find the one that makes them feel most at ease. Whether through texts, calls, or video chats, staying connected has never been easier. ✨ #3 Find meaningful activities Dive into activities that are of interest to build connections. Veterans can join clubs, volunteer, or participate in community events that align with their passions for lasting and fulfilling relationships. These strategies form part of the upcoming Veterans Health Week theme, Keeping Connected, which aims to support the health and wellbeing of veterans. This theme aims to promote good health and wellbeing in the everyday life of veterans and families and shines a spotlight on the importance of social connectedness. Events will be held from 1 to 31 October 2024 inclusive.
