driver of change (urban health II theory of change II innovation II strategic financing II management)
Titled, "Making a Difference: Promoting Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in Bangladesh", these stories talk about UNFPA’s work as they transform the lives of ordinary citizens of Bangladesh. Reflecting their - provider and beneficiary – enthusiasm and excitement, these stories provide hope for all people in Bangladesh. The key message of these stories is: if it can have this impact on the most marginalized and remote, sure, it can have the same on all; the only thing that is left is to reach all. From a sense of pride of being a midwife to a proud transgender changing the lives of fellow community members, these stories bring out the human side of UNFPA’s work. Community engagement, taking services to people and saving lives are the underlying themes of all these stories, covering the entire range of SRHR programme. The stories span from maternal health to obstetric fistula; from family planning to urban sexual and reproductive health; and from cervical cancer to health sector response to gender based violence. How men, women, boys, girls and gender diverse people, on either side of service, provider and beneficiary, interact, complement and carry out their work, are the undercurrent of these stories – they are the testimony of gender equality, inclusiveness and leaving no one behind. Stories like these are our rewards at UNFPA and motivate us to carry on our work, no matter how daunting the challenges are. Replication of these stories, remain our wish and for that we are fully committed to walk hand in hand with government and partners, to transform people’s lives and in the process, achieve sustainable development goals for all. https://lnkd.in/e8GWE87b

👉🏼 Let's talk about why #UPR recommendations are valuable tools to advance #SRHR priorities 📑 📃 The Universal Periodic Review (#UPR) is the global process in which UN Member States undergo evaluation by other Member States concerning the implementation of their #HumanRights obligations. During this review, other countries and civil society can offer recommendations, and once accepted, each Member State must implement and report its implementation in the next cycle. 🔎 This process provides a unique and valuable opportunity to propose specific actions that improve the situation of human rights in our countries, particularly in sexual and reproductive rights. 🇲🇽 In this cycle, IPPF and Mexfam A.C are proposing recommendations to Mexico on Child, Early, and Forced Marriage and Unions (#CEMFU):

[International Day of Action for Women’s Health] The International Day of Action for Women’s Health is observed every year on May 28. We commemorate this day to highlight women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) globally. Gender inequalities in healthcare remain a global health issue, hindering women’s access to healthcare. On this day, we advocate for women’s rights across the world to provide equitable access to not only healthcare for all women but also women’s sexual and reproductive rights, such as sexual health, sexual rights, reproductive health, and reproductive rights. Let us join the global movement in creating awareness and upholding women’s SRHR towards creating a world where every woman has the right to lead a healthy life. #WomensHealth #SRHR #MPS

Six in ten young Canadians prefer to find answers to their questions about Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) online, a recent study from LetsStopAIDS found. And more than one third believe that school curriculums focus too much on abstinence. According to youth, topics that are often missed include gender identity and sexual orientation, leaving many young people feeling underprepared and scared. This is how misinformation and misconceptions manifest amongst youth, for example, around pregnancy, use of contraceptives and LGBTQI2S+ experiences. To learn more about common SRHR myths and misconceptions young people face, check out our latest SHE SOARS podcast episodes! International Day of Action for Women’s Health (also known as International Women’s Health Day) is marked on May 28 by women and health organizations globally to educate people about women’s health and rights. The day fights against the social and gender disparities that violate women’s rights. It is alarming that these disparities manifest in various ways and operate at multiple levels. These include women’s rights to their bodies and to health, as well as to equality and non-discrimination. This day provides women with more information about sexual and reproductive rights and control over their reproductive health. #womenshealth #InternationalWomensHealthDay #NabiQasim #reproductivehealth

Only a few months away from completing my Masters in Law in Sexual Reproductive Health Rights in Africa. Wow has it been a journey and to think this last leg is the most importsnt one (currently in the middle of writing my dissertation). Been doing lots of reflection on the state of SRHR in the global south, the impact of anti rights actors on SRHR movement building, and ultimately what intersectional feminist strategies might look like during this period? What do SRHR solutions look like in Africa for example in depleting economies? Are we advancing conversations on sexual and gender minorities with the same zeal ? #srhr
