While we’ve come a long way, stigma around sexual health continues to impact young people across the globe, limiting their access to essential health services. Youth often don’t have the resources and support they need to make informed decisions about their bodies and lives. More can be done to create a safe space for youth to learn about and improve their sexual health, and advocate for their rights! Yesterday was World Sexual Health Day, and we’re excited to introduce the second cohort of our Youth Public Engagement Champions (YPEC), who are joining the SHE SOARS* project for two years. YPEC are a group of Canadians aged 16-24 who raise awareness of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in Kenya, Uganda and Zambia, and encourage Canadian youth to become global citizens. Together, we will discuss the common SRHR challenges youth face and explore solutions through the SHE SOARS podcast, social media posts, events and blogs! Learn what inspired YPEC to get involved in SRHR advocacy➡️ https://bit.ly/47f3oOF And follow YPEC’s journey on Instagram and your preferred podcast app! 👀 Stay tuned for more updates from the Youth Public Engagement Champions. CARE works around the globe to save lives, fight poverty, and achieve social justice by investing in women and girls.
About us
CARE works to save lives, fight poverty, and achieve social justice around the world by putting women and girls at the centre of all we do. CARE Canada supports 50 projects and initiatives in 30 countries, working across four main pillars: her health, her safety, her livelihood and emergency response. We put women and girls at the centre of all we do because we know that we cannot overcome poverty until all people have equal rights and opportunities. When women everywhere have what they need to live safe and healthy lives, when they have dignified work, when they can claim the leadership opportunities they deserve, they make the world a better, more equal place for EVERYONE. **Please note: All applications to roles with CARE Canada should be submitted through our online job board. It’s back-to-school time—but not for everyone. In countries experiencing conflict, girls are 2.5 times more likely to stop going to school than boys. Amaal’s family, like thousands of others in Yemen, had to leave their home to escape violence. Finding refuge in a new district, the family is safe from the fighting, but life is much harder. Her parents have no income here and can no longer afford to send her to school. Amaal describes the feeling of seeing other children on their way to school. “I sit by our door and wait to see the girls walk home with their beautiful uniforms. I know my father can’t afford it.” Despite her circumstances, Amaal stays hopeful. Her name itself means hope. Find out more about why investing in girls' education is so important—not just for girls and the women they will become, but for everyone: https://lnkd.in/dAaavp6w #school #BackToSchool #conflict #GirlsEducation #education
