𝗕𝘂𝘀𝘆 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗶𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱! There has been a buzz in the news this week about masterplan approvals and the many £millions in investment and grants flowing to support them. There are also lots of negative news stories about 'uncertainties' too. Well, thats complex regeneration for you. Out of sight, I have been mentoring the Dock Branch Community Panel in Birkenhead and we are now charging through the gears. On Monday we held a half day workshop to plan the year ahead, including: • Mapping our Social Networks • Co-designing a Social & Cultural Framework • Establishing a Project Action Tracker • Considering our Communications & Engagement approach • Lining up Partnerships & Collaborations Today the panel held a workshop with Maccreanor Lavington, architects of the Dock Branch Neighbourhood Masterplan, to map the next steps to breathing life into the plan. We concured that it should properly be described as a framework providing a strategic context to the dynamic changes and opportunities that will be growing in the coming years. However, it is not the only plan in town and the community-led framework the panell will co-design will act as an unbrella that puts the wellbeing needs of people at the top of the agenda and ensure that everyone is involved in shaping and delivering the process. We are not going to get involved in negative disccussions, but will be robustly possitive instead... and challenging. A final though today, was that 'communiy' has become so ubiquitous as to mean nothing at best, or to exclude at worst. We settled on referencing the folks living and working in Birkenhead as 'neighbours'. GroundsWell Consortium David Roberts Catherine Palmer

✨ Breaking the Routine: A Day with the Red Kite Community Housing Team ✨ Wednesday was a day to remember! My colleagues and I at Red Kite Community Housing participated in our annual Community Morning. We spent three hours cleaning up litter in Wycombe Marsh, connecting with one another, and making a positive impact on our environment. Here are three reasons why such community activities are so impactful: ✅ **Change of Pace**: Stepping away from our routine jobs, we got the chance to do something different and refreshing. It was a great way to recharge and gain new perspectives. ✅ **Building Connections**: It was wonderful to communicate and collaborate with people we don’t usually get to see regularly. Special shoutout to Asmita for being an amazing teammate and bringing so much energy to the task! ✅ **Demonstrating Commitment**: Activities like these highlight the strong commitment companies have towards the community. It's heartening to see our efforts making a tangible difference in society. After the morning's activities, we headed back to the office for an extended lunch and a catch-up with colleagues. Trevor Morrow shared a few words, and we enjoyed some delicious home-baked cupcakes. 🍰 A big thank you to everyone involved, especially our team leaders Rodney Bullock and Julie Gamble-Kempe, and comms lead Sharon Whitehouse. Let's keep making a positive impact together. 🌟 #CommunityEngagement #Teamwork #EnvironmentalCare

People living in Willenhall in #Coventry are working alongside Grapevine #CommunityOrganisers and building their collective power as they campaign for improved park and play facilities in their neighbourhood. Through a series of community focus groups at the tail end of 2023, the ‘Willenhall Coalition’ identified which community priority it needed to tackle first. Members decided that by focusing on a community park or play area they could help people improve their physical and mental health, create a space for social interaction, build a greater sense of community and support local children and their families. How does a #CommunityOrganising approach help ordinary people take action and make change? 📣 So far our community organisers Edwin and Gemma have helped the Willenhall Coalition research other Coventry parks, draw up a 'most wanted' play equipment list, speak to around 200 residents, collect nearly 70 local surveys and initiate meetings with council services. The group hopes that focusing on improving Brookstray Park will help: 🌳 People improve their physical and mental health 🌳 Create a space for social interaction 🌳 Build a greater sense of community 🌳 Support local children and their families. Addressing some of the contributing factors to Willenhall’s historical population #HealthInequalities. Moving the community a step closer to becoming healthier, happier and more connected. Winning some or all of the changes they want will make tackling future community priorities in #Willenhall possible. Read more about this #ShiftingPower work in our latest blog. Link in the comments 🔗 Grapevine is working in Willenhall alongside local people, the voluntary and community sector, the NHS and Coventry City Council to improve local health and wellbeing under the #HealthyCommunitiesTogether programme.

Every summer, over the 4th of July our family gathers and experiences a new geographic location, a tradition my parents established decades ago, when it was just Mom, Dad, and their four girls. Over time, the original Wilk family of six has grown exponentially. And while sadly, they are both now gone, 😇 their commitment to prioritizing family time and exploration has created a lasting legacy that has bonded us closer with each passing year. In our busy lives, it’s easy to let time slip away without connecting meaningfully with those who matter most. My parents understood the importance of carving out dedicated time for family, and their foresight has given us a foundation of unity and love that we cherish deeply. Our reunions are a testament to their belief in the power of togetherness and the value of shared experiences. 💕 Bringing 23 busy people from across the country together annually isn’t as easy task. It requires a great deal of intentionality, planning, coordination (and an inordinate amount of food!🤣), but the payoff is huge. Just as our family reunions foster deeper connections and understanding among us, companies can benefit immensely from consistently bringing teams together. Regular team-building activities, retreats, and collaborative projects can sow the seeds of trusting, supportive relationships. When organizations prioritize these gatherings, they strengthen the bonds among team members, leading to enhanced collaboration, increased morale, and a more cohesive work environment. In both family and business, the investment in time and connection are the building blocks of enduring relationships and thriving communities. Today, and everyday, I’m so grateful for the important lessons my parents taught me about prioritizing relationships, and the values they instilled upon our entire family. 💕 #Grateful #Relationships #Inclusion #FosteringTeams
