Recently, I spoke about the importance of post mortems. Today, after a little over a month at lempire, I have the opportunity to write my first one.
After getting comfortable, I made a mistake by modifying a part of the code that was still a bit of a mystery to me. The result? 634 lead activities impacted. Thankfully, we were able to patch the data, so no lasting damage was done.
What truly made a difference in this experience was the support from my manager and team lead. Their guidance and understanding turned this first “sting” into a valuable learning opportunity. Knowing I had their backing helped me face this challenge with resilience and confidence.
This will likely be my first mistake at lempire, but certainly not my last. Every mistake is an opportunity to learn, and it’s by falling that we rise stronger.
I’ll be sharing more details soon about this experience and the lessons I’ve learned from it. Mistakes are just steps along the path to growth.
And you, what valuable lessons have you learned from mistakes in your career?
