While Pride Month shines a light on diversity and inclusion, a common sight is companies sporting rainbow logos and limited-edition merchandise. This practice, known as "rainbow washing" or "pinkwashing," can have unintended consequences. Initially, widespread corporate support can feel validating for LGBTQ+ individuals. However, the realization that much of this support lacks substance can lead to feelings of betrayal, cynicism, and disappointment. Here's how we promote authenticity: 🌈 Look beyond the rainbow and assess companies' LGBTQ+ rights contributions 🌈 Encourage companies to be transparent about their efforts to create an inclusive workplace. 🌈 Advocate for resources flowing directly to LGBTQ+ organizations. Remember to support LGBTQ+ creators, donate to charities, and hold companies accountable always and not just during #Pride!

Faerfield is proud to celebrate Pride 2024. Supporting and celebrating the LGBTQ+ community is more than just changing your company logo. It’s about actions and commitments that make a difference – here are just a few that you can do to get involved. 🌈 Attend Pride celebrations: most cities in the UK have their own Pride celebrations between May and September. Head along – they’re a lot of fun. 🌈 Allyship: be vocal about your support – use inclusive language, challenge stereotypes and stand up against discrimination. 🌈 Volunteer or donate: you can also contribute to LGBTQ+ charities and organisations, either through donating financially or your time. 🌈 Self-education: learn about LGBTQ+ history, terminology & issues; about the challenges faced by the community and about the progress that has been made. Keep an eye on the Faerfield page for more information on how we’re celebrating Pride this year. However you’re celebrating, we hope you have a fantastic time. #faerfield #equality #lgbtq+ #recruitment #inclusive #pride

With Pride Month upon us, you may start to see a lot of companies changing their logos and profile pictures to rainbows. And sure, any allyship is better than none, right? But if you want to do something real, something that isn’t just slapping a new color lockup on your logo, why not try out a bit of genuine allyship? If you haven’t already, now might be a good time to start incorporating pronouns into your email signatures. Or, if you want to do something bigger, your community is a great place to start. Whether you’re covering the cost of banned books by LGBTQ+ writers and donating them back to the community, or you’re producing pro-bono videos for a local LGBTQ+ nonprofit, there are plenty of ways to make an impact. As respected LGBTQ+ advocate Stan Mitchell said: “If you claim to be someone’s ally, but aren’t getting hit by the stones being thrown at them, you aren’t standing close enough.” Maybe it’s time for you to get a little closer.

Welcome to 2024! Our founder Joshua Hobson has written a letter to the community to summarise the current state of LGBTQ+ rights in the UK and across the world, and where we see Ecommerce Pride in relation to this. Read more: http://bit.ly/3vKPFR6 As we stand on the threshold of 2024, we find it necessary to reflect upon the current state of LGBTQ+ rights both domestically and globally, and how these have impacted the first year of Ecommerce Pride’s run. Our objectives - fostering a vibrant LGBTQ+ ecommerce community, offering valuable resources to brands and companies, and supporting local and national LGBTQ+ charities - remain pivotal. These objectives are not just aspirations; they're our collective responsibility. Read more: http://bit.ly/3vKPFR6 #lgbt #lgbtq #ecommerce #retail

It’s Pride month. Let the pride washing commence. Companies that have never spoken about, shared, took a stance on, or took action on LGBTQ+ rights will now be donning the old rainbow flag to cash in on pride month, and tick a diversity box. Even companies that support politicians and parties with poor LGBTQ+ records will throw on a rainbow to get in on the action. We see you. We don’t need “awareness”, everyone’s heard of us. We need action. Here’s an easy win - start publishing how much of your pride month profits you’re donating. #lgbtq #pride #pridewashing

Happy Pride Month! 🌈 As a People Leader I want to share ways to demonstrate your commitment and support for LGBTQ+ rights and equality. Diversity is our strength, and we all should be committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone feels respected, valued, and empowered. Here's how we all can demonstrate our commitment: 1. Inclusive Policies: Update your policies to ensure they are LGBTQ+ inclusive. From anti-discrimination measures to learning resources, strive to create an environment where everyone can thrive. 2. Pronouns Matter: Encourage everyone to share their pronouns in their email signatures and introductions. Let's normalize this practice and create a more respectful workplace. 3. Visibility: Throughout Pride Month, share stories of LGBTQ+ employees, allies, and community members. Celebrate their achievements and resilience. 4. Community Engagement: Actively support LGBTQ+ through donations to impactful organizations and events. Here is an organization that I will be donating to this month. Check it out and join me in supporting ALL with LOVE! Houston's New Faces of Pride: https://lnkd.in/gJar4dMk Remember, supporting LGBTQ+ rights isn't just about a month—it's a year-round commitment. Let's continue to learn, grow, and stand together as allies. #pridemonth #alllovematters #lovewins

🌈💼 Why does celebrating Pride matter in the workplace? Because, when done authentically, it creates a truly inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable and confident being themselves. At Oaklin, a core facet of our culture is that our team can bring their whole selves to work, and Pride is pivotal in nurturing this culture. Pride serves as an opportunity to honour the LGBTQ+ community and to educate our business on the true meaning of Pride and the value found in celebrating it. That is why our Pride events this year were centred around education. These were: 🍕 A Pride Social, where our team came together for an LGBTQ+ themed quiz, a LOT of pizza, and a chance to connect and donate to an LGBTQ+ charity. 💭A Pride Lunch, where we discussed Pride's history and impact, all while acknowledging the progress that is yet to be made. 🎙️A series of communications offering film, TV, and book recommendations, as well as being a platform for our colleagues to share their personal stories. How did you celebrate Pride? #pride #pride2024 #inclusive #bringyourselftowork #celebratingLGBTQ+

Inclusivity is a core value of our company, and we're committed to fostering an inclusive environment every day of the year. Here are some ways to get involved: ◾ Attend Pride Events: Join local parades, festivals, and celebrations to show solidarity and celebrate diversity. ◾ Educate Yourself and Others: Learn about LGBTQ+ history and issues through books, films, and conversations. Share your knowledge to promote acceptance and awareness. ◾ Support LGBTQ+ Organisations: Donate or volunteer with charities and groups that promote equality and provide community support. ◾ Advocate for LGBTQ+ Rights: Speak up, challenge discrimination, and support legislative changes. ◾ Show Support on Social Media: Use your platforms to share positive messages and resources, and use hashtags like #PrideMonth2024 and #LoveIsLove. 🛍 There is quite a bit I could say here, but I will keep it simple. If you are purchasing Pride 🌈 themed products, please take time to research the brand you are purchasing from to ensure there is an authentic and intentional connection and/or give back to the LGBTQ+ community. Also, if you are a brand owner (outside of the LGBTQ+ community) that is selling Pride themed products, commit to donating the proceeds to an LGBTQ+ organization. Otherwise, both of these examples are forms of performative capitalism and allyship. Note: Be kind to yourself. Nobody is perfect and it is hard sometimes to know the connection and giveback to the LGBTQ+ community. Do the best you can and commit to expanding your research with each purchase. ❤️ I have lots more tips about brands and Pride purchasing, please feel free to reach out if you need support in this part of your allyship journey! #BrandAuthenticity #Pride2024 #PrideMonth #LGBTQ+
