Very interesting recommendations. Hopefully support for this one won't be an 'exception française': the creation of a World Organization for AI to assess and regulate AI systems, an International Fund for AI serving the public interest, and a "1% AI" solidarity mechanism for developing countries.

In its press release, the government recalls the efforts, projects and investments made around AI, in particular through the France 2030 initiative. HawAI.tech, alongside SAVOYE, is proud to be supported by France 2030 through the MOPSOS project, a project dedicated to accelerate predictive maintenance using frugal and explainable artificial intelligence. Perhaps it may be useful to look at the approach and outcomes of US philanthropic efforts in Public Interest Technology (https://lnkd.in/eQ2qjDfB) and Civic Science (https://lnkd.in/eHppsuP3) now in their 5th year to look at the capacity issue because governance just doesn’t mean government and ‘public interest’ just does not mean ‘government interest’. There are soft (ex: code of conduct) and hard tools (ex: intellectual property) for steering technology in the public interest. One cannot just conclude what is in public interest without public education and engagement on complex, convergent and emerging platform technologies like AI.
