Most people don't see the significance of this deal: The recent announcement of the $5 billion relationship between WWE and Netflix marks a groundbreaking shift in the streaming and sports entertainment industry. This partnership will see Netflix exclusively air WWE's "Raw" in the US and various international markets, starting January 2025. The deal extends beyond "Raw" to include other WWE shows and specials, such as "SmackDown" and "NXT" and major pay-per-view events like WrestleMania and the Royal Rumble. Netflix's venture into live sports broadcasting builds on its successful sports-related content like the "Drive to Survive" Formula 1 series, which indicates to me a broader strategy to diversify and enrich its content offerings. This deal expands WWE's global reach and aligns with Netflix's evolving content model, mainly as it develops its ad-supported streaming service. For WWE, now part of TKO Group Holdings after its merger with Endeavor Group's Ultimate Fighting Championship, this represents a substantial shift from its traditional reliance on linear TV and its streaming service, WWE Network. It offers a new economic model and a significantly broader audience reach. As I observe this partnership unfold, seeing how it impacts the broader streaming and live sports broadcasting landscape will be interesting. This partnership could lead to further expansion into live sports broadcasting by Netflix and reshape the way we consume sports and entertainment content. #streaming #netflix #wwe #linkedinsports

Is Netflix's POWER MOVE into the world of live sports is just another novel way of garnering advertising dollars. They've secured a $5 billion deal for the streaming rights to WWE's legendary wrestling program, Raw. After years of resistance, Netflix has finally embraced advertising and they're ready to take it to the next level. Live sports not only bring in a massive audience, but they also attract big brands and their ad budgets. And that's where Netflix sees a golden opportunity. By offering custom sponsorships and attracting those big brands, they're able to tap into a whole new revenue stream. But isn't live sports more appealing to the older generation? Netflix's brand as an entertainment company aligns perfectly with WWE's larger-than-life product. They're keeping their finger on the pulse of what their viewers want, and that's non-stop excitement and thrills. #Netflix #WWE #GameChanger #EntertainmentEvolution

Netflix is changing the game by partnering with WWE, marking a bold step into live sports with a $5 billion deal. This isn't just big news; it's a smart move that reshapes how we think about entertainment. Gone are the days when Netflix said it wouldn't dive into live sports. By bringing WWE's thrilling action to streaming, Netflix isn't just following trends—it's setting them. Yet, witnessing the success of competitors like Amazon and Apple TV+ in this space, Netflix has decided to break new ground. This isn't just another business deal; it's a strategic play that demonstrates that Netflix listens and adapts, offering what viewers want before they fully know they want it. This collaboration between Netflix and WWE is more than just a win-win for both entities; it's a bold statement about the future direction of entertainment. It highlights a growing trend towards flexibility, viewer-centric approaches, and the breaking down of traditional broadcasting barriers. What this means for viewers is simple yet profound: more access to the content they love, when and how they want it. For the industry, it signals a transformative shift towards innovative content delivery and partnership models that could shape the future of entertainment consumption. As we look forward to this new era of entertainment, the Netflix-WWE , Amazon Prime - NFL partnerships stand as a testament to the power of strategic innovation and the endless possibilities when traditional boundaries are crossed. It's a reminder that in the rapidly changing world of media, those who dare to embrace change and challenge the status quo will lead the way.

The competition for streaming services is driving them to invest heavily in live sports. Amazon and Netflix have both made significant investments in this area. Netflix recently made a large investment in wrestling #streaming #netflix #wwe https://buff.ly/3OgHAu2 Netflix and TKO Group Holding's WWE have announced a new partnership to bring WWE's flagship program, Raw, to the streaming service starting in January 2025. This 10-year deal marks Netflix's first big venture into the world of live sports entertainment, and it will be the first time Raw will be leaving linear television since its inception 31 years ago. Currently, the program airs on NBCUniversal's USA Network and attracts 17.5 million unique viewers every year according to the companies. Although the financial details of the deal were not disclosed, multiple reports suggest that the agreement is valued at more than $5 billion. This deal is a transformative move for Netflix, allowing the company to seek growth beyond paid sharing, as new content equals more ads and/or more subscribers. Wells Fargo analyst Steve Cahall described this move as a "logical next step" in a reaction note to clients. He also noted that the biggest challenge for Netflix would be the narrow demographic of WWE fans, so the company might look for more live content to further expand its reach. The analyst also pointed out that WWE is not quite the same as major sports rights, given the financial gap between the two entities sits at about $500 million annually.

At first glance, the three-year deal between Netflix and the National Football League (NFL) might not seem significant as it only includes two exclusive streaming matches. This December 25, Netflix will be the exclusive global destination for the NFL’s two Christmas Day marquee games: the Super Bowl LVII-winning Chiefs vs. the Steelers and the Ravens vs. the Texans. In subsequent years, it will stream at least one holiday game each year. It doesn’t seem much on the face of it, so why is this a big deal? There are several reasons. More here for subscribers 👇 🔗 https://lnkd.in/evhKsqkD Overall, it is intriguing and significant. All eyes are now on the NBA, whose current media rights deal ends next year. The NBA seems keen to include a streaming partner in any future deal, suggesting further shifts in the sports broadcasting landscape as current co-incumbent Warner Bros. Discovery might lose out. This would be another significant moment as Warner’s Turner Sports has carried National Basketball Association (NBA) games for nearly 40 years. #SportsMarketing #SportsBusiness #Partnerships #SportsBiz #SportsTechnology #SportsTech #sportsmarketing #SportsIndustry #Sponsorship #brandengagement #brand #livestreaming #NFL
