Good Morning,
Just finished reading this excellent book by Shri Tripurari Sharan, former chief secretary Bihar.
This book carries a magnificent depiction of around hundred years of history of an upper middle class family set up in a feudal rural backdrop. It's kind of an autobiography written like a fiction.
Most interesting thing about this book is that the story has been narrated by a dog named Laura. So much so that it may be called her biography. It carries very interesting and relatable insights around relationships amongst members of a, predominantly, farmer family and their aspirations. It also beautifully depicts the social issue of migration in pursuit of a better life from the villages of Bihar and the scar it leaves on the life of previous generation who stays behind trying to balance between protecting their ancestor's heritage and fulfilling the aspirations of next generations.
It also beautifully portrays the relationship between humans and animals, emotions of animals & how it get's impacted by changing human behaviour..towards them and amongst members of the family, where they are raised.
Further, through the story, one gets a good understanding of the socio-economic set up of Bihar and specially the middle-upper middle class farmer families.
I hope, my above review of the book must have created some interest to read within most of you. For getting further insights, get a copy from Amazon at a cost of Rs 250.
BTW, I have not got anything from Tripurai Sharan Ji to promote his book. It is just a spontaneous admiration of his creative work.😀
