As part of our wellness initiative, a few P3ers took a Lunch Stroll around Sweet Auburn last week in a guided tour led by our very own Juli Abbott. We explored the rich history of this vibrant neighborhood, learning about the rise of Black businesses in downtown Atlanta after the Civil War, the race riots of 1906 that prompted their concentration along Auburn Avenue, and the eventual divide of the historic area following the Downtown Connector’s construction in the 1950s. Some stops on our tour included (pictured, in order): 📰 The Daily World 🎶 The Royal Peacock ⛪ Bethel AME Church 🛍️ Sweet Auburn Curb Market 🎨 John Lewis Mural We deeply enjoyed exploring our downtown neighborhood and learning about its history.
