📢 Today the European Health Data Space (#EHDS) Regulation has officially been adopted by the European Parliament and the Council. This is a crucial step towards a unified framework to securely exchange and access health data across the EU, fostering innovation and enhancing healthcare delivery. At #PredictBy, we are proud to actively contribute to the smooth implementation of the #EHDS, by supporting the organisation of twinning programs to enhance the healthcare systems of Member States - within the 'Capacity Building on Primary Use of Health Data Across Europe’ project. In addition, we are involved in the project ‘Capacity Building for Secondary Uses of Health Data’, which focuses on equipping future staff of health data access bodies with the necessary skills and tools to operate effectively within the EHDS framework. While the next steps for the regulation to enter into force are taken, our colleagues Helena Catalán Busquets, Rodrigo Ortega Izquierdo, Laura Juvé Sánchez, Joan Camacho and Francisco Lupiañez-Villanueva will continue to lay the ground for the implementation of the EHDS by working on these two capacity-building projects (commissioned by European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA). At PredictBy, we are committed to supporting the development of robust health data infrastructures and ensuring that the EHDS realises its full potential for the benefit of all EU citizens. Feel free to reach out to our experts for any EHDS-related questions you may have. 💡 #EHDS #HealthData #DigitalHealth #Innovation #HealthcareTransformation

It is an exiting time to be involved in the European Health Data Space. As the secondary use of health data across the EU becomes a reality, I am privileged to be in a position in which I can learn and contribute to transversal understanding of the different building blocks, that together, capacitate the EHDS2 ecosystem to perform the tasks envisioned in this Regulation. Democratising access to electronic health data for research, innovation and policymaking, while preserving individual privacy and fundamental rights.

📣🔬 The European Health Data Space (EHDS) is here to revolutionize healthcare in Europe! 🌍💉 It is estimated that by 2025, healthcare information alone will represent 36% of the global total volume of data. Right now, most of this data is in silos, disconnected and does not get used to answer key questions which could help tackle patient needs. To that end, I was pleased to see a deal was reached on the European Health Data Space. The EHDS could enable a paradigm shift in healthcare in Europe by ensuring a balance between the mechanism to facilitate access for data users to conduct life-saving research while protecting people’s privacy and the rights of data holders. The bill is set to speed up digitalization of health data, empowering patients to own their journey by having access to their electronic health records anywhere in the EU and making it easier to use data for better policy-making and healthcare innovation. This is key for ensuring that European citizens remain healthy, wherever they go. It means that citizens’ healthcare records will be available and accessible even abroad, widening access and improving our ability to treat people whenever they need it. It will also be a game-changer for research and innovation in healthcare, giving our sector better access to health data and the chance to find better treatments for disease, optimize healthcare and improve our ability to personalise treatments or develop more robust and representative artificial intelligence. #Data #ResearchAndDevelopment #HealthData #Healthcare #EuropeanHealthDataSpace

Today we have the kick-off of the Integrating Care, Strengthening Communities: The Data Connection Hosted by the Department of Care of the Government of Flanders and conducted under the aegis of the Belgian presidency of the Council of the European Union, this conference will serve as a platform where European and international experts, thought leaders, and practitioners can explore innovative strategies and collaborative approaches for advancing integrated care and empowering communities. The event aims to address the critical aspect of data connectivity in achieving comprehensive healthcare solutions. We're discussing the digitally enabled integration of care by focusing on 4 building blocks: 1. Data and tools 2. Structures 3. Roles and tasks 4. Training and raising awareness. This conference promises to offer fresh insights, foster cross-sector collaborations, and facilitate the exchange of innovative ideas to drive the integration of care forward through the following sessions (subject to change): - The role of behavioural and cultural insights in the uptake of innovative digital tools - Measure what matters: neighbourhood analysis - Giving back to the people: population health & wellbeing management - How to build trust and transparency with regard to citizens' (health)care data #healthpolicy #healthcare #health #social #care #integratedcare #data #digital #digitalhealth #AI European Commission WHO Regional Office for Europe World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA) https://lnkd.in/dxhN2wEU

🌐 Exciting insights from our recent symposium on April 23rd, "The Arisal of Data Spaces: Big Data in Health and Care," co-hosted by The European Institute for Innovation Through Health Data and UHasselt. Dipak Kalra, President of i-HD, captivated us with his deep dive into the European Health Data Space (EHDS) proposal. 🚀 🔍 The EHDS aims to revolutionize healthcare by setting comprehensive rules, common standards, and robust governance frameworks. It seeks to enhance the use of electronic health data across healthcare, research, innovation, and policymaking. Dipak clearly delineated the 'primary use' of health data for patient care and 'secondary use' for scientific and administrative purposes, emphasizing the transformative potential each holds. 🚧 However, challenges remain: 1️⃣ Limited update of interoperability standards 2️⃣ Prevalence of poor (structured and coded) data quality 3️⃣ Data protection concerns often block data sharing and reuse 4️⃣ Lack of incentives to share data: for care and research 5️⃣ Digital health considred only as a cost and not an investment 6️⃣ Poor levels of public trust in the secondary use of health data Your engagement will be invaluable as we navigate these challenges together! 👀 Stay tuned! We will soon share a comprehensive report summarizing the key messages and the detailed slides from the symposium. #HealthData #BigData #DigitalHealth #Innovation #EHDS #DataSecurity #Interoperability #DataSavesLives

The European Health Data Space has been adopted!! 🥳 Yes, you have read it right!! It has been 2 years since it was planned, but we can now say that the EHDS (European Health Data Space) regulation has been adopted, entailing this a milestone in the European Union's innovation and digital health advancement. This regulation allows: ⭐️To empower people to have greater control over and digital access to their electronic personal health data, both at the national and EU level, and support its free movement. This will be done thanks to patient sites or apps that will provide patients with their electronic health data records which will follow them to any health provider they attend across Europe. In addition, the regulation will foster the alignment of data structure for exchange within European electronic health records, encompassing both structured and unstructured data formats through standardized exchange formats. These records will comply with interoperability and logging requirements. ⭐️To build a reliable framework for using and enhancing the advancement of health data in research, innovation, and sustainability. To achieve this purpose, a network of health data access bodies in each member state of the EU will be established to guarantee secure access to electronic health data for secondary use purposes. As a result, the advancement of research and innovation will be boosted allowing the development of new treatments and healthcare solutions. Connect by Circular-Lab receives this information with a thrill as we have always been committed to innovation and continuous development within the healthcare sector, and we feel that this regulation is another step along this exciting path. #EHDS #EuropeanHealthDataSpace #Healthcareinnovation #Digitalhealth #Datapower #ElectronicHealthRecord
