This a very action-focused theme! I hope that this helps drive not only investment in the form of access to capital and expertise but also pave the way for businesses to support women enterprises. Often when I pitch it the answer is these are small operations so they will not be able to meet the demand or they cost more or they don't meet our qualifications of # of years in operation or capitalization, etc. If we don't support them now how will they get the years, the scale they need to be able to eventually compete on the larger field? As much as you can, buy from women owned enterprises, patronise women produced goods, give feedback to those that need improvement, promote the ones that have great quality. #womeninbusiness #womensupportingwomen #tpwomen
We are pleased to share that UN Women’s theme for #IWD2024 is #InvestinWomen: Accelerate Progress. One of the ways that Investing in Women, an Australian Government initiative, has helped to accelerate women’s economic empowerment is through our Gender Lens Investing portfolio. Investing in Women is partnering with industry players to increase capital providers’ demand for Gender Lens Investing strategies and products and catalyse the supply of financial instruments available to small businesses owned or led by women. Capital invested with a gender lens in Southeast Asia in 2020-2022 grew 7-fold compared to 2017-2019. Over 88% of this capital flow went to Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam – three countries that Investing in Women is focused on. What is the outlook for gender lens investing in the coming years? Read our factsheet to learn more: https://lnkd.in/gdXxh5Te

Empowering #ASEANWomen through #collaborativedevelopment! 💪🏻 On 8 March 2024, UN Women calls for action to #investinwomen to accelerate progress for International Women's Day (#IWD) 2024! The chosen theme is highly relevant as investing in women's health, education, and economic opportunities are cornerstones of #SustainableEconomicDevelopment. Through our GIZ-supported ASEAN projects on #RegionalEconomicIntegration, GIZ is proud to contribute to women’s economic empowerment by underpinning our work under the acronym "SHE": 🌏(S)afeguarding consumers and the environment 📈(H)iking up cross-border trade 🤝(E)nsuring multi-stakeholder engagement 🔭Here's our work in action: 🪢 Through the #ASEANSME project, we connect women entrepreneurs across borders. 🖥️ Through the #PROTECT project, we enhance their understanding on fair online practices and consumer rights. 🏛️ Through the #COMPETE project, we support our government partners in anchoring inclusivity and #GenderMainstreaming in their trade agenda. All these measures are aimed at helping women access new markets and opportunities – setting them up for success as both #ConsumerChampions as well as beacons in business. 🙌🏼 Let's continue to champion women's economic empowerment by fostering inclusive policies and partnerships that generate pathways for their full participation and leadership not only in the #ASEAN region, but also beyond. Together, we can build a future where every woman has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to sustainable development! #iwd2024 #womenempowerment #asean #southeastasia

Happy International Women's Day! Today, let's celebrate the incredible strength, resilience, and achievements of women around the world. From breaking barriers to shattering stereotypes, women continue to inspire and lead in every aspect of life. Let's honor the women who have paved the way for progress, and let's empower each other to create a future where every woman and girl can thrive, unbound by limitations. Together, we can build a more inclusive and equitable world. Women have played significant roles in innovation throughout history, although their contributions have often been overlooked or marginalized. However, in recent years, there has been a growing recognition of the importance of women's involvement in innovation and entrepreneurship. According to the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), women bring new perspectives and talents to the table and we need more participation from women benefitting from this system. So, let’s advocate and work towards gender parity in IP and unleash the ingenuity and creativity of women and girls in Malaysia and around the world. Here's to all the phenomenal women out there – today and every day! You are valued and keep on inspiring others in your own way. I would like to dedicate this post to all the amazing women out there who have never failed to inspire and support me on this journey. Thank you! #internationalwomensday2024 #womenininnovation #womeninip #bethechange #authenticity #inspireinclusion #techcomventures #entrepreneurship #linkedincommunity #wipo

𝗦𝗲𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺 – 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗨𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗞 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 The Women's Foundation has been a staunch advocate for more diverse corporate boards since we launched the 30% Club Hong Kong in 2013. The board gender diversity percentage for the HSI is still at only 19% with only one issuer still to meet the no single gender board requirement. When all issuers meet the no single gender board requirement it will have a minimal impact on the overall percentage of women on boards in Hong Kong. 𝗪𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗶𝗺 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝟱𝟬% 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀. 𝗧𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲, 𝘄𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝟯𝟬% 𝗯𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳. We warmly welcome Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX)’s recent Consultation Paper on Corporate Governance Code covering a range of important corporate governance issues. However, we strongly urge HKEX to go further and include the following elements in the Code: 1. Extend the no single-gender boards rule to 30% representation of women on boards by 2027, with the aim of parity. 2. Require issuers to now set a target of at least 30% board gender diversity by 31 December, 2027 in preparation for the extension of the no single-gender board rule. 3. Clarify that the requirement to disclose workforce diversity policies must include measurable objectives and targets of 30% female representation at senior management level by 31 December, 2027. This is an essential means of building a pipeline for diverse board talent and to achieve overall diversity among issuers in Hong Kong, See the summary of our main points below. Please use any of our material if useful. We urge each of you to carefully read the Consultation (https://lnkd.in/gcsJ2bWA) and our guidance and submit your organisation’s and / or your individual responses on or before 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟭𝟲, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰. #twfhk #boarddiversity #genderequality #DEI #ESG

International Women's Day and the Role of Women in Promoting Sustainable Development! As women, we all have dreams of living a gentle, happy, and beautiful life. But women also have aspirations to create, contribute, and a meaningful life. Woman is one of the most heavily affected population groups by global climate change, however, the role of women is increasingly being recognized in economic development, especially in the green economy and sustainable development. We would like to express our gratitude to Linda Rae, General Manager in charge of Energy and Digital of General Electric - GE, for her participation in the Panel Discussion of the Vietnam Singapore Board Forum 2023, which focused on the Role of Women in promoting sustainable development. Linda took a long flight from the US to Vietnam to participate in the valuable discussion - The discussion of two CEOs (Mary Pham - VIETSTAR CEO & LINDA - GE USA) with the same mission, namely "Sustainable Development." https://lnkd.in/gVAb6ufT #GE #VIETSTAR #SustainableDevelopment #GreenFinance #VSBF #GreenEconomy

Today, on International Women's Day, we celebrate women's achievements worldwide and reflect on the progress towards gender equality. Last year, Norway made history by adopting new rules for gender representation in Norwegian board of directors. The new rules will align with the current 40% gender balance requirement for public limited liability companies and will impact approximately 20,000 medium and large business enterprises. This move underscores Norway's commitment to diversity in corporate leadership, representing a significant step towards gender equality in the entire business sector. Currently, women make up only 20% of board members in private companies, compared to 43% in public companies. The new rule aims to improve board dynamics and decision-making processes, fostering a more inclusive business environment. Norges Bank Investment Management, Norway's sovereign wealth fund, is extending their policies to increase the number of women on corporate boards to also include companies in emerging markets. You can find the recent Business Times article highlighting their efforts towards gender equality below. Gender equality is an ongoing process, requiring continuous efforts and commitment. Let's honor the women who have paved the way for change and commit to creating a more inclusive and diverse world for future generations.
