#GivingTuesday is here and we need your help to reach our goal of $125,000! There's never been a better time to give - every dollar donated until we reach our goal is being matched. Last year, you helped us to raise over $117,000 to enroll more students and implement new initiatives. Since 2017, PVD Promise has grown to serve 1,300 students from 700 #Providence families. Students have saved $2.36M in college savings accounts toward their future education. Last fiscal year (July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024), we hosted 110 programs for 2,600 students, not including our robust Youth Mentorship Program and on-going advising meetings. We also provided $310,000 in "Early Scholarships" directly to students' savings accounts for positive, educational activities. We've grown our Youth Mentorship Program to now serve 40 middle and high school students, implemented a new Alumni Program to help students who have graduated high school persist through their post-secondary program, and much more. Providence Promise is changing the narrative for hundreds of local families by encouraging early financial planning, preparation, and conversations regarding education after high school. Double your impact today at the link below and help us transform access to higher education for 1,300 youth in Providence, RI: https://lnkd.in/eZ3mjfSu. #highereducation #highereducationforall #educationalaccess #accessmatters #providence #rhodeisland #providenceri

I am amazed at what a single movement can do for non profits, particularly our school. Today is Giving Tuesday and like many organizations, we secured a matching fund of $40,000 to inspire our alumni, current families and alumni parents to give today, and double their dollars. But it's become my favorite day on the giving calendar because of conversations like the one I had with Jack Dowd. Jack graduated from St. Charles in 1949, which makes him 93 years young! He wanted to give his donation over the phone...and also share that Ocala, FL is a great place to live. (*noted!) He said he was happy, healthy and has learned that a long life is about "movement." He has no email address and still uses a flip phone, walks his dog every day and sometimes rides his bike. His biggest tip: don't ever give up driving your car, it limits your freedom! He was sharp as a tack, delightful and witty. These conversations are gifts to those of us on our development team. They remind us of the very personal experience that our alums have with St. Charles, show us the importance of giving back, and are proof that we do, in fact, Build Better Men. What does a campaign like Giving Tuesday mean for St. Charles? It means we can continue developing young men in an all-boys environment, centered around faith and rigorous academics, with the goal of every young man achieving his God-given potential. It means we can accommodate our growing enrollment and the need for additional faculty, staff and classrooms. It means we can invest in emergency equipment for new buildings, refurbishment needs of our historical spaces, weekend junior and senior religious retreats, unique speakers and programs, faculty and staff professional development and more. There's still time to give today and help us "meet the match." Go to: www.scprepgive.org and direct your gift to the annual fund. Wanna help us beat last year's goal? We need 63 givers in this next hour to stay above pace from last year at this time. Alums, please message me if you prefer to give through DAF, check or a gift of stock. #buildingbettermen #todaysboystomorrowsmen. #givingtuesday

Providing Equal Access to Education for All Globally, the youth literacy rate increased from 83 percent to 91 percent over two decades, while the number of illiterate youths declined from 170 million to 115 million. Regional and gender disparities persist, however. Literacy is lowest in the least developed countries and higher among males than females Donate Us: https://lnkd.in/gey3eAdV #sponsorforchild, #donatefororphan, #childeducation, #ngochildeducation, #donateforeducation, #girlchildeducation, #sponsorforpoorchild, #sponsororphanage #sponsororphanchild, #charity, #educationforchild, #seruds, #kurnool https://lnkd.in/g6ZGvUev

There needs be a change. Soon. As a parent to a 3-year-old I am dreading sending him to school due to the impending pressure and expectations that will be put on him. When will children allowed to be children? No wonder children aren’t potty trained and can’t listen or sit. They’re made to relentlessly learn under a specific style instead. We need to look at and learn from nations that have pushed early years educational ethos back to the age of 7. Let children learn at their pace, in their style, starting with the basics for as long as they need. https://lnkd.in/eyH8ffQA

70 years ago today the U.S. Supreme Court struck down separate but equal schooling, ruling racial segregation in public schools unconstitutional. About a generation of students attended integrated schools, but now public schools are again mostly segregated. If the goal is to equip students with tools to adjust to life after school in more diverse workplaces, how do we find education equity? #Brownspromise is the mission of the non-profit #SouthernEducationFoundation. https://lnkd.in/e3j7rvcc

Today is Cares Day, Cal Lutheran’s annual day of giving. I’ve never seen a place more dedicated to student success, and we could use your help. There is a direct line between donors and the programs and services which serve students. Here’s a quick story to illustrate that line. Back when I was a student, I remember sleeping through an early morning Calculus class (probably following a late night coding session). Later that day, I got a call from my professor wondering where I was and what she could do to make sure I made it to the next class (shout out to Dr. Klassen). That kind of support matters, and it just doesn’t happen at many schools; especially big ones. That is part of why Cal Lutheran outperforms other schools in both graduation rates and the time it takes to graduate. Take that experience with my Calculus professor, and extend it to financial aid, clubs, athletics, performing arts, DREAMERS, education abroad, student employment, ministry, adult degree programs, disability support services, and more. Across the board, faculty and staff at CLU know our students, and that creates a vested interest in their success. Cares Day is an opportunity for donors to help support those efforts. We do not have access to many sources of funding available to public schools, so this is an important day. Check out the link below to learn more. Thank you for your support! #CalLutheranCares https://lnkd.in/guFJ_bm2

Here’s what high school juniors and seniors should consider as they begin preparing for college.
Parenting a high school senior is not for the faint of heart. Great interview this morning with Barry University's Provost Dr. Pablo Ortiz on the areas parents and students need to consider including the SAT going completely digital - no more scantrons?!?! #PublicRelations #NonProfitPublicRelations #EducationPublicRelations https://lnkd.in/dShRjuPQ

Did you know that applying for the largest scholarship out there is not the easiest or smartest way to get aid for school? Large corporations offering scholarships are flooded with individuals seeking scholarships that shell out big money, while many smaller, more local scholarships are often overlooked. If you start early and spend time researching places in your own backyard, like your local community foundations, you can often find scholarships available that will help begin closing the gaps. https://lnkd.in/grvPPDtX
