Each year, approximately 1.7 million Americans are affected by sepsis, and a staggering one-third of patients who pass away from sepsis, had it during their hospitalization. This highlights the urgent need for effective strategies and interventions to combat this life-threatening condition. In 2023, Hoda Asmar, MD, MBA, chief clinical officer, reported that our care initiatives aimed at decreasing sepsis mortality saved an estimated 1,250 lives. Our updated procedure incorporates a standardized order set for blood tests, fluid resuscitation, blood pressure management and the critical step of early antibiotics within one hour of sepsis identification are key parts of our approach to saving sepsis patients lives. Sepsis kills more people than heart attacks and stroke combined and yet we have no dedicated in-hospital sepsis response teams. MI and stroke patients have a dedicated team that arrive at their bedside within minutes and sepsis does not. Also in need of out patient sepsis clinics that GP's can refer patients on to that are at higher risk of developing sepsis for closer monitoring. Time to invest in sepsis if we want to see results. #sepsis #prevention #notrocketscience #realaction #resources

Translating genomics innovation into clinical application - MISK 2030 Leader. Healthcare Leader and Patient Safety Expert
🌍 Today, on World Sepsis Day, we are reminded of the silent killer that claims more than 11 million lives each year—more than cancer and heart attacks combined. Sepsis is a preventable condition, yet it remains a major threat in healthcare globally. 🚨 Sepsis does not discriminate. It can affect anyone, anywhere, and at any time. It is a medical emergency that arises when the body's response to infection causes injury to its tissues and organs. And yet, with timely recognition, early intervention, and proper management, sepsis is entirely preventable. 🛑 THE CHALLENGE IS CLEAR: We must ACT FAST. This means raising awareness, promoting early diagnosis, enhancing patient safety protocols, and prioritizing education for healthcare workers and the public alike. The cost of inaction is too high. We cannot afford to lose more lives to this condition. Let's unite to ensure that sepsis is recognized, treated, and, ultimately, prevented. Together, we can make a difference. Let’s save lives. #WorldSepsisDay #PatientSafety #SepsisAwareness #Healthcare #SaveLives Global Sepsis Alliance

Whether it's thrombosis, infection or phlebitis, these complications can have serious consequences for patients and healthcare providers. Yet we keep using the same materials and expecting different outcomes. AVI catheters, using a first-of-its-kind material featuring MIMIX® technology, have shown significant reductions in failure rates and fewer complications in retrospective clinical studies.
