Two pediatric patients were ejected from a motor vehicle. They were both taken to the ED at Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center. They received packed red blood cells (PRBCs) with a novel rapid infuser. Read the full patient case summary: https://ow.ly/h6Ui50STmJW

Shout-out to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services as they kicked off their prehospital whole blood program this past week and delivered a unit of blood on day one using LifeFlow. EMS Duty Officers are prepared to administer whole blood to patients experiencing major blood loss, improving outcomes for patients suffering from severe hemorrhage. Montgomery County joins Howard County and Maryland State Police at the forefront of advanced prehospital medical care in Maryland. LifeFlow is a proud partner with MCFRS.

A 33-year-old female woke up one morning with severe abdominal pain, prompting a 911 call. She was suspected to have internal blood loss secondary to a ruptured ectopic pregnancy. The first unit of PRBCs were administered with the LifeFlow allowing for an infusion of less than a minute. Calcium and TXA were administered followed by a second unit of PRBCs, after which her SBP improved to 100 with a HR in the 90s. The patient was discharged the next day. We were privileged to present a LifeFlow Challenge Coin to Firefighter/Paramedics Charles Patterson, Jonathan Hughes, and Brendon Swanson for their exemplary care of a trauma patient whose life was saved by prehospital blood transfusion.
