There's no greater satisfaction for us than seeing client goals being met through the buildings we designed together...in particular, when those buildings, like the Caritas Center in Santa Rosa, are making significant impacts in community health outcomes and the reduction and prevention of homelessness. Catholic Charities CEO Jennielynn Holmes recently remarked, "The co-location of services at the Caritas Campus has not just been a vision, it has been a revolution in care and support." 👏

Check out construction progress on a new affordable community in unincorporated Alameda County near Castro Valley! Crescent Grove (F.K.A. Ruby Street Apartments), developed by Eden Housing, Inc., will nestle 72 apartments for households earning 20% - 60% AMI on 3 acres of a 6.3-acre site along San Lorenzo Creek. The rest of the site will preserve the riparian corridor, and a 0.34-acre trailhead for the Hayward Area Recreation District. Crescent Grove will include a creek-facing resident courtyard with a playground and community garden designed by JETT Landscape Architecture + Design . The project is being built by James E. Roberts-Obayashi Corp., with an opening slated for later this year.

Evani is taking shape at 3223 Wilshire Blvd in Santa Monica! The 53-unit market-rate project is contributing to a mixed-use transformation of this Los Angeles corridor, with panache! Hats off to CEI - Cypress Equity Investments, INTEGRARE GROUP®, and DFH Architects for carrying the design so faithfully through to completion. :)

Building permits have been submitted for 1701 San Pablo Ave in Berkeley! The educator housing for BERKELEY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT will be a transformational new multifamily residence for the region. The project, whose 0.78-acre site is shared with the Berkeley Adult School, will create 109 affordable homes for teachers, school district staff, and their families, and will contribute to San Pablo Avenue’s transformation into a transit-oriented mixed-use corridor, taking further advantage of its proximity to BART, bikeways, and bus routes.   California’s density bonus was utilized to maximize unit count while preserving surface parking for BAS and employing massing that respects the adjacent single-family neighborhood. 1701 San Pablo is co-developed by Satellite Affordable Housing Associates (SAHA) and Abode Communities, and is expected to enter construction in early 2025.
