In 2 months, WJC 2 will take place 🥁🏆 Next to the competition of the finalists - We will have an extra day this year for networking and discussion. Once again, JAIN received interesting applications who will compete about the best product regarding dementia and technological assitance. This year’s applicants come from countries like England, Sweden, Brazil, Spain, Vietnam, China and Luxembourg. We are excited to share our results from the 2023 #ELLIIT focus period at Lund University! Our team of visiting scholars* is presenting our paper "Accurate Direct Positioning in Distributed MIMO Using Delay-Doppler Channel Measurements" [1] at #SPAWC this week in Lucca, Italy. 🚧 The challenge: Harsh industrial environments have challenging radio propagation characteristics with strong multipath and obstructed line-of-sight (LoS) channels, impairing the radio signal. Distributed MIMO (D-MIMO) is a technology that increases the chances of favorable channel conditions by distributing antennas throughout the coverage area. However, achieving reliable phase calibration in D-MIMO, which is required for phase-coherent processing at the infrastructure, is challenging. 💡 Our solution: To overcome the need for precise phase calibration we implemented delay-Doppler processing. We fused the data from 12 distributed anchors and implemented 3D positioning and tracking of a mobile robot through Bayesian filtering, approximated with a particle filter. We have had the pleasure of receiving a visit from professors Olga Boric-Lubecke (University of Hawaii at Manoa), Victor Lubecke (University of Hawaii at Manoa), Teresa Martín (Universidad de Málaga) and Janie Baños (DEKRA España) at IDNEO's offices in Málaga. We took this opportunity to comment on the advances in wireless technologies and their applications in the automotive business. We also reviewed the goals of the RISCCOM project, where IDNEO is participating in the design of evaluation platform, based on RISC-V architecture, to monitor the vehicle cabin using UWB technology. This evaluation platform and the development of UWB-based iCM algorithms are part of a project subsidized by the CDTI with Next Generation EU funds, under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. This initiative is within the framework of the “Science and Innovation Missions Program.
