To conclude #Pride Month, our employees share their personal coming out stories and talk about how Quaker Houghton has inspired and empowered them to bring their true selves to work every day. Kelly McGrath, HR Operations Lead: “Growing up gay was never an issue in my family. I was raised in the Republic of Ireland, and while my family was very Catholic, they were also very accepting. Two of my mother’s five siblings are gay and have been out since the 1980’s, when it was still illegal to be gay in Ireland. And my family and friends were very active in the campaign to make Ireland the first country in the world to legalise same-sex marriage in 2015. In my professional life, reactions to my sexuality were less certain. There are very few global corporations in my hometown. Most businesses are family-owned. For this reason, I sometimes found it hard to bring my whole, authentic self to work. When I joined Quaker Houghton, I was cautious based on past experiences. But very quickly, I learned that the company acts according to its Core Values, namely Embrace Diversity and Act with Integrity. Finally, I felt like I could be myself in my professional life as well as my personal life.”

Sumaira Latif, Procter & Gamble’s Company Accessibility Leader in the U.K. - whose journey is nothing short of inspiring. Born with a rare condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa, Sam faced challenges early on, gradually losing her sight. By 16, she couldn't read anymore. Sam's path to P&G wasn't easy. Rejections piled up as companies hesitated to hire a visually impaired person. But fate intervened when she met Mike Bowden, who saw her potential and welcomed her to P&G. Now, as P&G's Global Accessibility Leader, Sam's making a lot of changes. Drawing from her experiences, she's revolutionizing product design to make them accessible for everyone. From adding tactile features to Herbal Essences bottles to pioneering inclusive advertising, Sam's work changes lives of many people out there. But beyond that, Sam believes in something deeper: the power of inclusivity to transform lives and businesses alike. She's a true inspiration for others to join her journey toward a more inclusive world. #SumairaLatif #PandG #Accessibility #Inclusion #Inspiration #Diversity #Zenos #zenoseducation #zenosoutsourcing

In the world of professional development, inspiration can come from unexpected places. As I walked through Paddington yesterday I caught sight of the Paddington statue on the platform and it got me thinking, what do the well loved characters of our childhood teach us? While Paddington's adventures are heartwarming and entertaining, they also offer valuable lessons for our careers and personal growth. 🧥 Adaptability: Paddington arrives in London from Peru, navigating a completely new environment with curiosity and resilience. Embracing change and being adaptable are crucial skills in today's fast-evolving workplace. 🧥 Kindness and Empathy: Paddington's interactions are always rooted in kindness and understanding. Building strong, empathetic relationships is key to effective teamwork and leadership. 🧥 Optimism: Despite the challenges he faces, Paddington maintains a positive outlook. This optimism drives him to find creative solutions and maintain morale, qualities that are equally important in overcoming professional obstacles. 🧥 Attention to Detail: Paddington's meticulous nature, especially when it comes to his beloved marmalade sandwiches, reminds us of the importance of attention to detail in our work, ensuring quality and excellence. 🧥 Cultural Awareness: Coming from a different background, Paddington shows us the value of diversity and the richness it brings to our lives and workplaces. Embracing and celebrating different perspectives fosters innovation and inclusivity. Next time you face a challenge at work, think of Paddington Bear and remember these timeless lessons. Who knew a small bear from Peru could offer such valuable professional insights? #ProfessionalDevelopment #CareerGrowth #Leadership #Teamwork #Adaptability #Kindness #Optimism #AttentionToDetail #DiversityAndInclusion
