Martell (@martellnigeria), the oldest great cognac house, has unveiled the second chapter of its ‘Be the Standout Swift’ campaign, featuring Grammy-nominated Afrobeats superstar, @davido. The campaign celebrates individuals who remain authentic, resilient, and uplift others.
In an exclusive interview, Davido shared some inspiring insights on his journey, citing how breaking boundaries has defined his career. Despite coming from a business-focused family, he pursued music, leading to his first hit, Dami Duro.
He also discussed how his decision to push Afrobeats internationally early in his career was initially questioned but later validated by the genre’s global success. For Davido, standing out is about being audacious and continuously reinventing oneself.
His advice? “Bet on yourself, even when things seem risky.” Partnering with Martell excites him because the campaign reflects his own journey of fearlessness and staying true to his lane, while pushing others to embrace their boldness and stand out in their own way.
Martell unveiled a new film starring Davido as the lead character to launch this chapter of the campaign, brought to life by award-winning director, Meji Alabi, who also shot the first campaign film. The plot is inspired by Davido’s decade-long contribution to Afrobeats, its critical acclaim, and its success.
