🇺🇸 Happy Flag Day! 🇺🇸 Today, we celebrate Flag Day, a special day to honor the symbol of our nation's unity and freedom—the American flag. 🌟 Civics Lesson of the Day: Flag Etiquette and Lesser-Known Facts The American flag, also known as "Old Glory," represents the values and history of our country. Here are some lesser-known facts and important etiquette about our flag: Lesser-Known Facts: 1. Flag Code: The United States Flag Code, established in 1923, provides guidelines on how to display and handle the flag. It’s a set of rules to ensure the flag is treated with the respect it deserves. 2. Never at Half-Mast by Mistake: The flag is only flown at half-mast by specific orders, usually by the President or a state governor, to honor and remember the sacrifices of our nation's heroes. 3. No Flag Higher: When displayed with other flags, the American flag should always be at the highest point or to the flag's own right (the observer’s left). 4. Proper Disposal: When a flag is worn and no longer fit for display, it should be retired in a respectful manner, typically by burning in a dignified ceremony. Did You Know? 1. Folding the Flag: There is a specific way to fold the American flag into a triangular shape, which symbolizes the hats worn by colonial soldiers during the American Revolution. 2. The Flag’s Birthplace: The first American flag was commissioned by the Continental Congress and crafted by Betsy Ross, a seamstress in Philadelphia. 3. National Anthem Connection: The Star-Spangled Banner, written by Francis Scott Key, was inspired by the sight of the American flag flying over Fort McHenry after a battle during the War of 1812. Let's come together to honor our flag and reflect on the principles it stands for. Raising the American flag….. Is not nationalism. It’s our country’s flag in America. Is a representation of the United States. United together in the pride of their country. Is a respect for where we live. Is optional, but is regulated by many laws for specific areas and within the scope of other flags being represented. Raising the American flag used to be an admired concept. If you raise another flag in this country, why do you do it? If you disrespect the American flag, why do you do it? If you hate the symbol for which the American flag represents, why do you hate it? If you have an answer to any of these questions, why are you proud of your freedom to speak freely?

Today, as we commemorate Patriot Day, we honor and remember the lives tragically lost on September 11, 2001. This solemn anniversary reminds us of the resilience, bravery, and spirit of unity that define us as Americans. Whether you have a personal memory of that day or know its impact through the stories of others, we hope you’ll join us in pausing to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy and the community we cherish. May we never forget. #davedoesinsurance #kltinsurance #savewithdave

🇺🇸 Today is an especially appropriate time to talk about unity. This image is iconic and brings a lot of memories, emotions and feelings of national pride to many people, including me. 🇺🇸 What I love about our nation’s flag is that it represents unity through its design, which reflects the collective identity of a diverse nation. The 13 stripes symbolize the original colonies, while the 50 stars represent our great states, each an individual part of a greater whole. 🇺🇸 Despite differences in culture, geography and beliefs, the flag unites Americans under shared values of liberty, democracy and equality. 🇺🇸 This flag stands as a symbol of resilience, seen during moments of national triumph over historic struggles. 🇺🇸 If you are an American citizen, or working toward that, this flag should represent a sense of belonging and pride, emphasizing that unity strengthens this nation’s democratic foundation and collective progress. 🇺🇸 Remember today that this nation is one of diversity, inclusion, brotherly love and progress. 🙏 As we reflect on what happened on September 11, 2001, let’s recommit to do just a little better today than we did yesterday to unify, and exhibit what our country stands for.
