The liberation of Azerbaijan’s lands highlights both our resilience and the injustices of history. İrəvan, once a thriving Azerbaijani hub, was stripped of its heritage through forced displacements and ethnic cleansing. İrəvan, a historical Azerbaijani city, served as the administrative center of the Erivan Khanate, a significant part of Azerbaijan’s history and culture. For centuries, Azerbaijani people faced systematic policies of ethnic cleansing and persecution. Entire communities were uprooted during the 19th and 20th centuries, leaving behind their homes, culture, and history. This tragic legacy is a reminder of the strength of our people and the importance of safeguarding our historical narrative. The Western Azerbaijan Community is committed to advocating for the peaceful, safe, and dignified return of Azerbaijanis to their ancestral lands. This return is not just about land—it’s about reclaiming our culture, history, dignity and rights. #Azerbaijan #GreatReturn #Justice #İrəvan #HumanRights

CIVILNET: "Can Artsakh Armenians reclaim their homeland?,” 9/19/2024, https://lnkd.in/eKWsAxmY "In this episode of Insights, we commemorate the one-year anniversary of the September 19 aggression that led to the ethnic cleansing of Artsakh Armenians, an event some legal experts consider the start of a genocide. The discussion delves deep into the critical issue of the right of return for Artsakh Armenians to their ancestral lands, exploring its historical context, legal ramifications, and the complex political landscape surrounding this fundamental human right.” Eric Hacopian: “In the harrowing days of late September of 2023, over 100,000 Armenians were forced to flee Nagorno-Karabakh, leaving behind their homes, their history, and the graves of their loved ones. In the midst of chaos and despair, some even exumed the bodies of their recently buried young sons or husbands to carry them to Armenia. Within less than a week, no Armenians remained in Nagorno-Karabakh, except for a handful of 5 to 10 people. The region inhabited by Armenians for millennia was emptied in a matter of days. ... "This notion where you can have peace built on criminality that we saw last last year is quite naive. ... "What everyone must understand is for peace to be durable and long-standing it needs to be just, it cannot be separated from justice. Peace is not simply the absence of war. True peace comes from justice being served and in this case it's people returning to their homes to live peacefully, under legal protections that are guaranteed by the international community. "In conclusion, the return of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh to their ancestral home under international protection is not just a matter of law, it's a matter of dignity, identity, and most importantly the only path to long sustainable peace."

17.12.2024 Today, in front of a place that has preserved centuries of human history, we stand to bring forward the undeniable truth of Western Azerbaijan. For generations, our people have carried the memory of their ancestral lands—lands that embody our identity, culture, and perseverance. Western Azerbaijan is not simply geography; it is the soul of a people whose voices remain steadfast, echoing across time and borders. Justice may be delayed, but it cannot be denied. Our call today is clear: the return to Western Azerbaijan is the restoration of truth and fairness for all of humanity. This struggle is not bound to history but continues into the future. It is a call to recognize, to remember, and to act. We will raise our voices. We will reclaim our narrative. And we will ensure that the world hears the call for justice that begins here and now. #WesternAzerbaijan #VoiceOfJustice #TruthAndHistory #StandForJustice #StruggleAndUnity

Things Aren’t Great: "Unpacking the Lies of the Western Azerbaijan Community,” 9/22/2024, https://lnkd.in/dJ2zvqyd "In this video, we tackle the absurd claims surrounding "Western Azerbaijan," a fabricated narrative that asserts all of Armenia is historically Azerbaijani land. "Azerbaijan is pushing this dangerous propaganda to erase Armenian identity and rewrite history. We’ll explore how the so-called Western Azerbaijan Community operates as a front for the Azerbaijani government, promoting these unfounded claims. "Join us as we examine the implications of this narrative and why it matters for Armenia's future. This isn’t just about territory; it’s about cultural survival.” “Azerbaijan wants Armenia, and Armenians, to cease existing as a sovereign entity. From the ethnic cleansing of Nagorno-Karabakh to increasingly bold claims on Armenian territory, the pattern is unmistakable. This isn't just about land or resources. It's about erasing a people, their culture, and their history. And that's why we need to take their seemingly ridiculous propaganda seriously.”

Ousted President Ali Bongo quits Gabon politics: The Power of Reverence and Relevance. Hardly is any condition permanent. What makes a god (look) so powerful and invincible is the degree of reverence it enjoys from its subjects or worshipers; once the subjects withdraw their reverence, the god becomes irrelevant and obsolete. One Year Later: Standing in Solidarity with Artsakh September 19, 2024, marks the solemn one-year anniversary of Azerbaijan's genocidal aggression against the Republic of Artsakh. This brutal attack forcibly displaced over 120,000 indigenous Armenians from their ancestral homeland, causing unimaginable loss and suffering. Today, we remember the lives shattered by this atrocity and reaffirm our commitment to justice. The Armenian National Committee of Canada (ANCC) stands united with the people of Artsakh in their struggle for self-determination and the right to return to their homeland. This issue cannot be resolved until a comprehensive political solution is reached, one that guarantees the safety, dignity, and freedom of the Armenian people from continued aggression and oppression. We call for the immediate release of all Armenian political prisoners held illegally in Azerbaijan and an end to the destruction of Armenian cultural heritage in the region. These acts are a blatant violation of international law and must be condemned by the global community. As we commemorate this tragic anniversary, we urge the international community to take meaningful action to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis and stop Azerbaijan’s aggression. The fight for peace, justice, and dignity for Artsakh continues, and we will not cease our efforts until the fundamental human rights of its people are fully realized. Let us honor those lost and stand firm in our commitment to ensure a safer, more peaceful future for Artsakh. #StandWithArtsakh #ArtsakhStrong #JusticeForArtsakh #NeverForget #ANCC #IndigenousRights #HumanRights #CulturalHeritage #PeaceAndDignity

With the renewed disputes over the sovereignty of the three #Persian islands (#bumusa and #Tunbs), it may be worth revisiting the chapter I co-authored with my friend and colleague, Saba Sotoudehfar. In this chapter, we explain why these islands have historically been part of #Iran and the Persian people. It offers a well-documented account, backed by solid historical evidence.
