“Our current system and providers are working great. Why are you trying to fix something that’s not broken?” This is a question our clients get asked by their internal stakeholders before and during direct sourcing implementations. In our experience, having a specific and data-centric answer (as opposed to a generic response) goes a long way in obtaining buy-in. Here are also a few things that can help: * Understand who your current providers are * Know what your current vendor community looks like * Identify which vendors are preferred and which are not * Obtain data on how the current vendors are performing Having a solid understanding of your current program will help your team get clear about the impact direct sourcing can bring, and will also build internal stakeholder buy-in early in implementation. I don't post often but wanted to publicly say something. I really appreciate vendors that prioritize integrations with other vendors and provide "out of the box" standard connections. When vendors create partnerships, it creates a sensible ecosystem that works well together. Each product has it's strengths and weak points, and there is a world in which there is a win/win of integrated systems meeting different needs. When i review vendors, one of my top considerations is whether I'm going to have data silos or if i can make a system work in overall context at the organization. In summary, those vendors that do top-notch integration work make it possible for great things to happen in government. Thank you! (Obligatory note that my opinions are my own and not neccessarily representative of the organization i work for.)

Vendor portals are a game changer for procurement teams. (but not enough of you know about them) A vendor portal creates a central place for you to collaborate with your vendors. It empowers them. It frees you of constant comms. It creates proactive vendor relationships. Not reactive email-strewn relationships that feel transactional 🤮 Not to mention that compliance is drastically enhanced. Are you making use of a vendor portal?
