Narendra Modi's vision for a self-reliant India (Aatmanirbhar Bharat) provides the perfect backdrop for this mission. Just as India is revolutionizing its ►Infrastructure ►Technology ►Economy It must invest in the nursing profession to drive meaningful healthcare transformation. Why do Nurses Need the "M"? 👉Mission: Launch a campaign to upskill nurses in communication, leadership, and patient care. 👉Mentorship: Connect senior professionals with young nurses for real-world guidance. 👉Mastery: Offer advanced training in clinical skills and emotional intelligence. ↳By 2030, India will face a shortage of six million nurses. While over 300,000 nursing seats exist in colleges, many remain unfilled because the profession has lost its appeal due to a lack of growth opportunities and workplace challenges. ↳Communication Gaps Lead to Errors Studies show that medical errors are often rooted in miscommunication. Nurses who lack training in communication skills may struggle to coordinate care effectively, impacting patient outcomes. ↳Global Competition and Migration ↳India is the second-largest supplier of nurses globally, but thousands migrate yearly due to better opportunities abroad. While the government plans to send 100,000 nurses to Italy and Germany, this should not overshadow the urgent need to address local workforce issues. This is more than a healthcare issue; it’s a national priority. By placing nurses at the heart of India’s healthcare strategy, we can build a system that’s efficient, compassionate, and globally respected. Let’s not just imagine better healthcare—create it. What’s your take? Let’s discuss how we can make this "Mission" successful. #nurses #healthcare #hospitals

**Addressing Nurse Shortage in New York with International Talent** New York is set to address its significant shortage of qualified nurses through an agreement to bring in skilled professionals from abroad. This initiative was formalized during a recent meeting between Phil Ramos, Deputy Speaker of the New York State Assembly, and officials in Islamabad. The meeting included discussions on broader cooperation in education, health, policing, and economic sectors, but the immediate focus is on enhancing New York’s healthcare workforce. Deputy Speaker Ramos emphasized the urgent need for qualified nurses in New York and expressed optimism about this new partnership. He highlighted the potential impact on healthcare facilities, which have been facing staffing challenges. Plans are underway to expedite the deployment of these nurses to New York, with additional collaborative efforts in policing and security training also in the works. From an Indian perspective, as a healthcare staffing professional working in India for U.S. health systems, this development is particularly significant. It underscores the ongoing demand for skilled healthcare professionals in the U.S. and highlights the potential for similar initiatives involving Indian nurses. India's robust education system in healthcare makes it a strong candidate for such collaborations. Addressing the nurse shortage in New York is critical for maintaining quality care and meeting patient needs. This international partnership could serve as a model for other countries, including India, to contribute to global healthcare workforce solutions. #registerednurse #rn #newyork #hospitals #pakistan #India #healthcare #jobs

Nurses are at the forefront of adopting new technologies, tackling accreditation challenges with ease, and driving processes that directly impact business outcomes—all while delivering high-quality care. Their ability to embrace change quickly makes them invaluable assets in healthcare settings. Apollo Hospitals is a prime example of this adaptability and innovation in nursing. As an equal partner in the Apollo enterprise, Capt. (Dr.) Usha Banerjee, has consistently turned every challenge into an opportunity for nursing advancement. She believes that rather than lamenting over the brain-drain of our Nurses to global healthcare systems, we should be proud of the fact that Indian nurses are in high demand worldwide. Their contributions, including foreign remittances, have significantly boosted the nation's economic growth. However, at the same time, we need to ensure we think of innovative models to retain our Nurses as well. Apollo Hospitals has found a way to support both local and global aspirations. They have created a win-win solution: meeting the needs of nurses at home while nurturing those who wish to work abroad—and even developing a pathway for those who wish to return. In this episode, we also discuss government initiatives like the #SwasthBharat Health Mission and the #HealbyIndia #HealinIndia program by Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, India & Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India both of which are making significant investments in building a stronger nursing workforce to meet the demands of the future. Tune in to hear Capt. Dr. Usha Banerjee’s insights on these transformative changes, why Nurses need to own their profession and how various entities like #ANEI are shaping the future of nursing in India and beyond. In a conversation with our Chairperson, Jayanthi Yeshwant Kumar, Dr. Preetha Reddy, Vice Chairperson, Apollo Hospitals, highlights the need for investing in local education and training programs to retain talent in the healthcare sector. With India already facing a poor nurse-population ratio, the situation is further alarming with nurses emigrating to other countries in large numbers, creating a gap in addressing the healthcare needs (Source: Indian Nursing Council). Dr. Reddy also emphasised improving pay scales to retain talent and strengthen the healthcare system. Watch now. #HealthcareIndustry #RetainingTalent #NurseShortage #HealthcareProfessionals

Did you know that India's elderly population is set to triple by 2050? That's a staggering increase, and it raises an important question: are we prepared to care for our elderly population in the way they deserve? Elderly patients often have unique needs – they may be battling multiple chronic conditions and require a special level of care and attention. Nurses play a crucial role in caring for elderly patients, not just by providing medical care, but by offering empathy, compassion and a listening ear. It's essential that we prioritise compassionate care for the elderly, ensuring that they feel valued and respected in every interaction. But how can we do that within the fast-paced, often complex world of healthcare? It's a challenge, but one that we must tackle head-on. By rethinking our approach to elderly care, prioritising compassion and providing nurses with the training and resources they need, we can create a healthcare system that truly serves our ageing population. So, let's start a conversation. How can we improve elderly care in India? #nurses #patientsafety #nursing

Is it not fair that after 77 years of Independence, the nation assures every villager the availability of a #nurse at least eight hours a day for basic #healthservices? A #doctor is trained for five years. But a nurse is trained for three years and can provide basic health services at the #village level. India has over 550,000 villages of which around 150,000 are already covered by #ANMs, 31,000 have #primaryhealthcentres, and some are covered by other #healthfacilities including by non-governmental organisations. So the remaining 350,000 villages need to be covered by either an #ANM (trained for two years) or preferably a fully qualified nurse (3-4 years of training). It might seem a major endeavour. However, given #India’s large number of nursing schools and colleges, it is not a big challenge. #ruralhealthcare #healthcare
