Figuring out what a company’s culture is really like during an interview is super important to determine if you’ll fit in and enjoy your new workplace. Forbes recommends candidates ask these questions to help decide if this opportunity will be a hit or miss: ❓ Observe Environment and Dynamics: Pay attention to greetings, office layout, and employee interactions. ❓ Ask About Values and Practices: Inquire about the firm’s mission and core values. ❓ Evaluate Interviewers: Observe their behaviour and communication style, particularly that of the Line Manager. ❓ Request an Office Tour (during a final interview): Observe workspace, dress code, and employee interactions. ❓ Seek Employee Feedback: Connect with current or former employees for insights. #InterviewTips #CompanyCulture #CareerInsights

𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲❓ Gone are the days of the one-sided interview! Recently, I encountered a company with a refreshingly unique hiring process that prioritizes transparency and cultural fit. Here's the twist: After a few rounds, shortlisted candidates get to spend a DAY at the office! They meet teams, get a feel for the vibe, and ask anonymous questions about work culture and leadership through survey. What a fresh take! Not only does it showcase a truly transparent environment, but it screams confidence in their HR practices and employee experience. It's a two-way street: they assess the candidate's fit, and the candidate gets a real taste of the company culture. So, let's ditch the "Ask Me Anything" charade at the end of interviews! The power dynamic shouldn't solely favor the employer. Don't you want to know if you'll actually enjoy working there? Should getting a glimpse into a company's culture be the norm? #transparency #culture #interview #employee #jobs

There are few things more important when hiring than ensuring your new hire fits your company culture. Far too many companies, however, don't ask the right questions in interviews and end up making poor hires that hurt retention. When hiring for fit, open ended questions are key. Give the candidate the chance to answer in a meaningful way that doesn't just answer your question, but demonstrates expertise and even personality. Remember, interviews should be conversations, and conversations are two-way streets. Get to know the candidate; let them get to know you. By engaging in meaningful conversation, you can gauge a candidate more authentically on their overall disposition and the likelihood of them being a true fit than shallow, traditional interview questions. While you don't want a completely homogenous workplace and you do want diversity of thought, it's still essential for employees to be aligned on values, goals, and overall work styles. Every employee should work cohesively to contribute something unique to the grand vision and mission of the company. #EmployeeRetention #EmployeeAcquisition #Interviewing

Finding a candidate who fits your company culture is just as important as their technical skills. Always assess cultural fit during the interview process. Here’s how I do it: - Define Your Culture: Clearly articulate your company’s values and work environment. If your office is more ‘Hawaiian-shirt Friday’ than ‘Suit-and-Tie Monday,’ let them know! 🌺 - Behavioral Questions: Ask candidates how they’ve handled situations that reflect your values. “Tell me about a time you had to work as part of a team” can reveal a lot. - Team Interaction: Include team members in the interview process to assess fit. It’s like a group date, but for your future coworkers! 👫👬 I once had a candidate who showed up with a joke that had the whole team laughing. It was clear they fit right in with our laid-back culture. What’s your approach to assessing cultural fit? Share your methods! Let’s make hiring a fun and engaging process. 💬👇 #CulturalFit #HiringTips #TeamBuilding #TechRecruitment #TalentAcquisition #WorkplaceCulture #HR

Why aren't more company leaders doing Stay Interviews? Stay Interviews are check-ins with hired talent designed to understand their interests, motivations, sentiments, and triggers. According to BetterUp, they help hiring managers to: Increase engagement. This is particularly important given that Gallup's latest workplace insights show that workplace engagement dropped in First Quarter, 2024. Currently, more than two-thirds of workers indicate they are disengaged. Improve trust. The stay interview can be designed to tap into what creates better bonds between management and hired talent. And let's remember, trust is a two-way street. Reduce turnover. Here, the stay interview can help identify issues that left unresolved can scale quickly to crisis (in this case, the high negative financial impact attributed to hired talent quitting). Work fit. Stay interviews can help hiring managers understand the alchemy that makes the work that talent do a wonderful part of their day doing other wonderful things. And the insight gathered can help teams create more meaningful gathering, especially when team members work in a distributed workplace. When companies do more stay interviews, they are better able to replicate the best conditions that create workplace harmony. And when that happens, our best days lie ahead. In just one hour, an interview session becomes a make-or-break moment for a company's reputation. The weight of unprofessional behavior highlights the need for leaders to grasp the profound impact of their actions. It's more than filling a role; it's a deliberate effort to craft the company's perception. Crafting Positive Impressions: Interviewers play a crucial role, creating the first impression that leaves a lasting mark. Simple yet impactful gestures, like showing respect and articulating the role's necessity, have a big impact not only on the interviewer but also on the overall image of the organization. Steering Clear of Interview Pitfalls: The interview process can become perplexing when unrealistic expectations are established, resulting in role ambiguity and confusion among candidates. Placing undue emphasis on technical skills in a role that demands strong behavioral attributes not only raises concerns but also highlights a company culture that may not fully appreciate the importance of behavioral aspects. Understanding Company Insights: Inaccurate job descriptions and unclear reporting lines can hint at potential challenges within the company. Like reading fine print, hidden details may reveal more than meets the eye. Reporting structures fostering conflicts of interest can breed unnecessary politics, impacting the company's appeal. Getting Compensation Right: Compensation discussions are crucial. Offering below-market rates while expecting expertise beyond the job title risks pushing away good candidates. The value exchange is a two-way street, with candidates assessing their worth as much as the company assesses theirs. The Heart of HR Excellence: Even companies that seem impressive can face long-term risks if their HR teams fall short. Selecting an HR team is like building the backbone of the company. Beyond paperwork, a skilled and ethical HR team becomes the guardian of a positive workplace culture, nurturing talent, and safeguarding the company's overall reputation. A Holistic Approach to Company Image: Creating and maintaining a positive company image requires a comprehensive approach. It goes beyond checking qualifications; it's about how candidates are treated, the clarity provided about the role, and the overall professionalism displayed. Every Interaction Matters: Companies should understand that every interaction with potential hires is an opportunity to enhance or diminish their standing in the job market. The interview process, when conducted with transparency and respect, isn't just a hiring process but a key factor in attracting and retaining the best talent, ensuring the long-term success of the organization. #WorkplaceEthics #HRexcellence #CompanyReputation #EmployerBranding

"Please switch on your Camera dear Candidate, I will keep mine Off" An interview is a 2-way interaction, there's one critical element that sometimes gets overlooked: employers turning OFF their cameras. Here’s why it's so important: 1. Building a Connection: 🔺Face-to-face interaction, even through a screen, helps establish a personal connection. 🔺It humanizes the interview process, making candidates feel more comfortable and engaged. 2. Demonstrating Company Culture: 🔺Turning on the camera gives candidates a glimpse into the company's culture. 🔺It shows transparency and openness, reflecting a welcoming and inclusive workplace. 3. Enhancing Communication: 🔺Non-verbal cues like facial expressions and body language are crucial for effective communication. 🔺Candidates can better understand feedback and engage more naturally. 4. Showing Professionalism: 🔺It sets a professional tone for the interview, indicating that the employer values the candidate's time and effort. 🔺A visible presence can also help reduce distractions and keep the conversation focused. 5. Encouraging Mutual Respect: 🔺Just as we expect candidates to be fully present, employers should reciprocate by turning on their cameras. 🔺It fosters mutual respect and a balanced power dynamic during the interview. 6. Improving Candidate Experience: 🔺A positive candidate experience can significantly impact a candidate's perception of the company. 🔺A friendly face on the other side of the screen can make the process less intimidating and more enjoyable. 7. Facilitating Better Assessment: 🔺Observing a candidate’s reactions and body language helps in making a more informed assessment. 🔺It aids in understanding their enthusiasm, confidence, and cultural fit. 8. Setting a Good Example: 🔺Leading by example encourages candidates to also turn on their cameras, promoting transparency and engagement from both sides.
