In an industry as challenging and dynamic as maritime, we know it’s not enough to follow the same paths as everyone else. At Watermark, we’ve built everything we do around three core principles that we believe truly make a difference: 👉🏻Putting people first From cadets starting their careers to senior officers leading teams, everything we do focuses on supporting people. Whether it’s helping someone navigate the challenges of life at sea or building stronger crew dynamics, we know success starts with the people onboard. 👉🏻Real experience, Real solutions With years spent both at sea and ashore, we’ve faced the same challenges our clients encounter every day. That experience shapes how we approach problems—with practical, thoughtful solutions that work in the real world. 👉🏻Preparing for the Future Whether it’s new technologies, regulations, or expectations, we’re focused on helping the people and companies we work with adapt and thrive in a rapidly evolving environment. 🛟SAVING A SMALL BOAT IN THE MIDDLE OF OCEAN ATLANTIC 🌊 Today, I want to share an experience that made me even more aware of the value of training and teamwork. During a rescue operation, I had the honor of being part of the team that assisted a vessel in distress, ensuring the safety of its crew and making sure the boat could safely reach the port⚓️ Being there on the front line highlighted just how essential continuous training and preparation are. Every drill, every scenario we faced during exercise, allowed us to respond quickly, safely, and decisively when it mattered most! #TrainingMatters #RescueOperation

🚢💼 Enhancing Safety and Efficiency: Pre-Lift Check Card Implementation At the Borr Drilling Natt, I had the privilege of mediating an onboard meeting with our dedicated deck members and supervisors. We gathered to introduce a crucial new tool: the Pre-Lift Check Card. This initiative, designed to heighten our situational awareness and ensure safety before any cargo lift, is a significant step towards enhancing our operational efficiency and crew protection. Our session was marked by a collaborative spirit as we delved into the critical components of the Pre-Lift Check Card. Each step was discussed in detail, with everyone's insights and concerns being voiced. This collaborative approach not only provided a comprehensive understanding but also solidified our shared commitment to safety. Key Takeaways: 1. Enhanced Awareness: The Pre-Lift Check Card ensures that all team members are on the same page, minimizing risks associated with lifting operations. 2. Clear Communication: By standardizing our checks, we streamline communication and reduce the likelihood of errors. 3. Safety First: Prioritizing safety protects our crew and enhances our overall performance and reliability. A big thank you to all participants for their engagement and valuable contributions. Your dedication to continuous improvement and safety is truly commendable. Let's continue to work together, stay vigilant, and lift safely! 🚢🔧💪 "Situational awareness is a fundamental building block in the development of a robust safety culture." – James Reason #SafetyFirst #TeamWork #OperationalExcellence #PerformanceCoaching #MaritimeIndustry #SituationalAwareness #ContinuousImprovement

Emergency rescue isn't always straight forward, but if your RAMS are written correctly they'll identify issues and ways of dealing with it, but this may require specialised equipment, so your training provider needs access to this. This is delivering entry and rescue from a side entry vessel using an anchorage point, pole hoist and access slide to ensure no cutting of recovery wire or rope. These types of entry or rescue are not simple and usually require and in depth understanding of what is available within our industry and how it's used correctly. You may require primary and secondary systems to be able to be used if there is no fixed access ladder or temporary one used. Equipment selection and team members are safety critical as size and space may eliminate many devices you have previously used. Don't succumb to professional bias and just use what your used to as that may increase the risk, selection should always be based on what's fit for purpose. Good training providers will know what's available, correct set up and limitations. The lifeboat drill procedure ensures that all crew members and passengers are prepared to respond efficiently during an emergency at sea. Here’s a general outline of the procedure: 1. Pre-Drill Preparation • Notify all personnel: Inform crew and passengers about the scheduled drill via public announcements. • Inspect safety equipment: Ensure lifeboats, life jackets, and other emergency tools are in good condition. • Assign roles: Each crew member must know their specific duties during the drill. 2. Muster Station Assembly • Sound the alarm: Activate the general emergency alarm to signal the drill. • Muster passengers and crew: Guide everyone to the designated muster stations. • Take attendance: Use the muster list to ensure all personnel are accounted for. 3. Demonstrate Life-Saving Equipment • Distribute life jackets: Show passengers how to properly wear and secure life jackets. • Explain safety procedures: Brief passengers on evacuation and lifeboat boarding. 4. Lifeboat Operations • Crew-specific tasks: • Launch team: Prepare lifeboats for deployment. • Communication team: Stay in contact with the bridge for instructions. • Simulate boarding: Passengers practice entering the lifeboats in an orderly manner. • Explain operation: Show how to operate the lifeboat, including engine starting and steering. 5. Post-Drill Evaluation • Debrief: Gather crew to review the drill. Identify any issues or areas for improvement. • Log the drill: Record the date, time, and participants in the ship’s logbook. Key Points to Remember • Safety is the priority; drills should simulate emergencies without causing panic. • Lifeboat drills are conducted weekly for the crew and during embarkation for passengers. • Regular drills ensure compliance with SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) regulations.
