The XPRIZE for Healthspan stands out as the world's largest research prize, with a $101M up for grabs. This #competition spans seven years, aiming for a groundbreaking solution by 2030. One of its key missions is to democratize aging research by demonetizing and making accessible the tools that were traditionally exclusive to governments and corporations. The competition revolves around four primary objectives: attracting diverse teams, initiating regulatory conversations about aging as a root cause, generating public excitement, and increasing investment in Healthspan research, recognizing that there is no wealth greater than health. To win, participating teams must successfully develop a therapeutic deliverable treatment within one year after the competition’s conclusion in 2030. The treatment should restore lost function in #immune, #muscle, and #cognition by a minimum of 10 years, with a goal of 20 years, focusing on individuals aged 65-80 years. This inclusive competition invites all problem solvers to join, emphasizing an open-door policy for anyone interested. The prize categories are indexed to improvements in function relative to expected age-related declines over 10, 15, or 20 years, with corresponding awards of $61M, $71M, and $81M, respectively. $20M in milestone awards, with $10M allocated to each milestone.
