To our Empowered Network community: we are so grateful for your support. As of the new year, our network consists of 345 survivors, including 203 alumni. Your contributions have supported not only these resilient individuals but also their families. Every survivor who achieves economic freedom is in a substantially better place to protect their children, ending generational cycles of exploitation. Since our founding in 2017, we have helped secure safe housing for 517 children who are now living above the poverty line. And we’re not stopping there. Most cities have crisis support for those who do get out of the system, but systemic barriers remain, leaving many survivors trapped for their entire lives. Society is putting a ceiling over their innate potential. Together, we’re removing that ceiling and empowering survivors to become their own solution. You got this. ⏳ It may be taking you longer than expected. 🗺️ The journey and destination may be different from what you originally envisioned. 🏋🏾 At times it may feel like the work is more than what you have capacity for. We're not meant to do life in isolation. ▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️ 📢 Speaking of #MutualAid, help me fund a mini-grant for Mutual Aid Distribution of Richmond, MADRVA. https://lnkd.in/ezShCM6A MADRVA provides mutual aid services in Richmond through a free community market and a mini-grants program, prioritizing marginalized and vulnerable groups. 🏳️⚧️ | Small Business Owner | Co-founder, Decolonized Community Care Fund | Trained Life Coach | Hellraiser
The reason the Decolonized Community Care Fund exists is so that the burden of needing support is lifted, and people just get the support they need from all of us who can give. Not being about to provide for people asking for help as of late has been gut-wrenchingly painful. But we can't stop, we've got to keep on moving and making things happen. There is no other option. Starting out, Robin Divine and I knew it was going to take some time to get traction. Yet, right out the gate, we had large-sum donors, and within two weeks, crickets. Making the Fund visible is essential, but this platform makes it very difficult. The amount of two-stepping and tip-toes we have to endure to even make the Fund and peoples' needs visible on this platform should not be happening, yet here we are. I'm also going to be completely honest: We've had to dance around and console WW feelings, which in turn just further exposes the racist and transphobic tropes people still hold onto so tightly. There are no gold stars in this work. You either support, or you are the problem, and systemically the reason why minoritized folx live at a deficit to begin with. Knowing this is essential AND uncomfortable as fuck. But not as uncomfortable as living in a constant deficit. In time, we will be rolling out the importance of continuing to decolonize community care. We cannot properly care for others when our feelings remain at the forefront. People and their well-being need to be at the forefront, always. As we're into the first weekend of July, I want to remind everyone we're here, and our community still needs our help. Your community needs your help. And the help is only fulfilled by money - that's just the plain truth. The future truly is mutual aid, because in the end all we have is each other. CTA: Repost + Share + Contribute to (1) or more urgent requests. Thank you so much 💛 [Cover image: Molly Costello] [Alt text: Cover image shows drawings of 20 people of multiple races and ethnicities holding hands, with the words "The Future is Mutual Aid" centered in foreground]

As a national charity deeply connected to our local communities, we play an important role in supporting the principles of Truth and Reconciliation. On this National Day, we pause to reflect on the history and impact of residential schools on Indigenous peoples and commit to fostering learning and healing in our communities. Financial literacy through an Indigenous lens highlights unique values, traditions, and challenges. Promoting these perspectives helps break systemic barriers and fosters economic independence and empowerment. We believe that true reconciliation involves amplifying Indigenous voices, honouring their lived experiences, and taking meaningful steps toward collective healing. Take a moment today to learn, reflect, and take meaningful steps towards healing and reconciliation. Building, Growing, Expanding for Greater Impact Capacity=Opportunity. More capacity, more opportunity to innovate, create, expand, and profit. Impact Collaborative specializes in translating landscape analysis and resource availability into innovative, prudent plans to build capacity for greater impact. To see how the magic happens, check out this case study (https://lnkd.in/eZ-PkT2D) that outlines our work with Covenant House, a nonprofit that serves youth in crises in the U.S. and Central America. Tackling the epidemic of child trafficking and homelessness is no easy task. Nor is raising the funds to provide essential services with limited resources and competing needs of other worthy causes. Through funding diversification, program expansion, and new audience engagement, IC helped Covenant House find ways to reach and cultivate both corporate funding and the younger donors they would need to engage for a stable future. For more information on how Impact Collaborative can help grow your organization’s impact, visit https://lnkd.in/eNiEgPFF or email us at info@impactcollaborative.co. There’s no time like the present to start building your better tomorrow and IC can help. #impactcollaborative #IC #impactconsulting #covenanthouse

📌 Last week, I had a sobering conversation with a client that has stuck with me. He told me that he was experiencing #donorfatigue in a way he had never imagined. ▪︎ In the span of a month, four of his colleagues had passed away. As if that wasn’t heartbreaking enough, some of their parents were also in the hospital, and the calls for #financialsupport were constant. ▪︎ With #limitedresources, he found himself torn—how could he possibly contribute to all these families when he was already stretched thin? ▪︎ He wanted to help, but the reality is that his own financial capacity wasn’t infinite. He didn’t know how to spread out the funds and still manage his own responsibilities. 📌 This isn’t an isolated experience. ▪︎ More and more Kenyans are feeling the weight of these constant requests for contributions. We’ve always stood by the spirit of #harambee, but it’s becoming clear that this ad-hoc system of support is straining the very people it’s meant to protect. ▪︎ The burden is heavy, and it’s becoming clear that relying solely on emergency contributions is no longer sustainable. 📌 So, what can we do? -> It’s time to start thinking about #longterm solutions. While our hearts are always in the right place, we need to shift from #reactive financial support to #proactive financial planning. -> Establishing personal emergency funds, investing in #lifeinsurance, #medicalinsurance, and even setting up #funeralcovers can help families be better prepared for the unexpected. -> By encouraging our families and communities to plan ahead, we reduce the overwhelming pressure on ourselves to contribute to every cause. ▪︎ Imagine a future where fewer people are forced to seek emergency donations because they’ve already secured their safety nets. ▪︎ This will create a culture where support is more sustainable and less emotionally and financially draining. 📌 It’s a tough conversation, but one we need to have as Kenyans, and Africans as a whole. -> The answer to donor fatigue is not giving less—it’s about each and every one of us planning better so that we can continue to uplift one another without burning out. ▪︎ Have you been feeling it lately? ▪︎ What are your thoughts on donor fatigue? ▪︎ Are you playing a role in your own financial preparedness so you can be your brothers keeper? ♻️ If this post made you think and you know it will help others, please share ✨️ Let's talk: https://lnkd.in/ddq4WcXJ #DonorFatigue #Kenya #FinancialPreparedness #CommunitySupport

At this point, ongoing donations for those impacted and devastated by Helene need to shift over to financial contributions. The donations of supplies appear to have gone well, and were absolutely essential. At the same time, long-term distribution of aid will require better coordination in locations where it is needed. This includes remote areas. I can certainly appreciate the frustration of many who are not sure what to believe when iy comes to reports from impacted areas. I also don't think it's a wise idea for government agencies to be advising the citizens they are supposed to serve as to what are "trusted information sources." This type of messaging makes it sound like government "knows better" and does not exhibit the humility and respect for the citizenry we are supposed to embody in public service. Prayerfully, a lot of the confusion that is unfortunately the likely outcome when today's communication channels are disrupted will be addressed soon. The volunteers and public servants who have done everything they can these past week-plus have earned tremendous appreciation from all of us, and many of them will continue to need our support as their work moves forward. If you haven't given yet, or want to give again, please consider making a financial contribution so aid providers have the flexibility to respond most effectively to those in need. I'll list the link below, for they are based in Western NC, and I'm familiar with their work and commitment to their neighbors. Of course, please give to those you trust and feel most comfortable with. #WesternNC #Helene https://lnkd.in/e9a2nGHf
