RPC’s goal of driving decarbonisation across Europe is made a reality through positive and meaningful local community engagement. Never was this more evident than last Saturday, when we brought together local residents, landowners, and key project stakeholders for the official inauguration of our Klevberget wind farm in Sweden. The celebration was a testament to both the strong partnership between RPC, KlevVind land association and Klevberget’s developer OX2 and the support of the local community in the Ånge municipality, with attendees enjoying food and festivities while getting to see the wind farm in action. Sweden is a priority market for RPC and we are committed to making further investments in the region. As our Head of Development for the Nordics Per Meijer puts, “we are committed to staying and growing here for many years to come.”

Effective communication can make a big difference in the customer or occupant home energy upgrade experience. Setting homeowner expectations leading up to and during projects can help ensure that customers are clear of the project scope, workplan, and any disruptions, while also helping contractors receive fewer callbacks. Attend this session to hear examples of what has gone right (and wrong) when communicating with occupants and tips for both de-escalating situations, exceeding customer expectations and closing projects.

👏 City of Tallinn thanked the cooperation partners of the European Green Capital, with whom a large number of projects have been implemented. On this occasion, Mayor Mihhail Kõlvart handed over letters of thanks to cooperation partners, and Robert Kitt, the head of Utilitas Tallinn, was receiving it from our side. 👏 The joint venture established last year between the City of Tallinn and OÜ Utilitas will implement the agreed investment plan, with a strong emphasis on the development of an environmentally friendly district heating system. We will invest in wastewater and seawater heat pumps, which will help us bring the share of natural gas use below 10% of the total volume by 2027 at the latest, reducing our dependence on imported fossil fuels. In addition, we will replace all old non-pre-insulated district heating pipelines with modern solutions by 2035, as a result of which heat losses will be reduced to less than 10%. 📷 : Jelena Rudi.

New Mexico's legislative session this year may have only been 30 days, but decision makers and WRA were able to exponentially compound its impact for the state's land, air, water, and communities. This legislative session, New Mexico took major strides in conservation, outdoor equity, and clean energy. This includes: 🌳 Fully funding the Land of Enchantment Legacy Fund with an additional $300 million 🖼️ Modernizing the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) Supplemental Fund which aims to bring outdoor recreational opportunities closer to home for more New Mexicans. ⚡ New Mexico's electricity provider (PNM) adopting a stronger transportation electrification plan with a focus on reaching low-income and underserved communities. https://lnkd.in/gJ3fCDAH

🪵🏡New project INTERCEDE kicks off! INTERCEDE stands for 'Incentivising future forest ecosystem services and incomes in Europe'. This is a four-year Horizon Europe project which started this month to tap the potential of market-based approaches to encourage forest owners to manage their forests in such ways as to provide valuable benefits and services to society. FNP will be the leading organisation within this project to research into the socio-political dimensions of PES (Payment for Ecosystem Services) and MBI (Market-Based Instruments) schemes. Its research team comprises Georg Winkel, Marjanke Hoogstra-Klein, Marko Lovric and a PhD student who is being recruited. Forest ecosystem services (FES) such as carbon removal, biodiversity protection, improved water management and recreational services are much sought after, in addition to being essential. However, these are not necessarily valued, particularly not in monetary terms. This project aims to identify and upscale market-based instruments, develop policy frameworks and guidelines, and reduce the gap between high-level research and policy and practice.
A new Horizon Europe project, INTERCEDE, targets the potential of market-based approaches as incentives for forest owners to manage their forests to provide valuable benefits and services to society. Learn more 👇

Today is the deadline to apply for the European Green Capital and European Green Leaf Awards. This competition highlights local governments taking action to improve the environment and engage in mitigation and adaptation efforts in response to the climate crisis. So far, I have learned that Poland will definitely be represented by two Upper Silesian municipalities facing major air quality issues: Rybnik in the category of larger cities and Pszczyna in the category of smaller towns. Moreover, Pszczyna will focus on addressing the topic of urban ecosystem reconstruction. I hope both applications will be successful! Perhaps there are other communities participating that I am unaware of. In that case, I extend my wishes for good luck! The IntercropVALUES project, of which we're part, aims to exploit the advantages of intercropping to design and manage productive, diversified, resilient, profitable and environmentally friendly cropping systems that are acceptable to farmers and agri-food chain actors. This ambitious objective involves the development of 13 co-innovation case studies from the EU (9), UK (1), Serbia (1), Switzerland (1) and Mozambique (1). Members of the case studies are both conventional and organic, and they are part of short as well as long value chains.
