Shifting incentives to favour recycling over disposal is key; prioritising products that align with circular economy principles and banning landfilling of recyclable products are crucial steps. Ambitious countries like #Germany and #Austria have already acted, banning landfilling of recyclable construction materials starting from January 2024 and 2027, respectively. Researchers have found potential use for construction and demolition waste in producing sustainable concrete by using the waste to replace natural aggregates. 🌍♻️ Today, on #GlobalRecyclingDay, let's stress the crucial role recycling plays in reducing emissions from the flat glass industry.   Recycling is a priority in our 2024-2029 #Manifesto because the benefits are many: 🏭Reduction of raw material: Increasing the amount of old and broken glass in the furnaces, helps limit the use of virgin raw materials. ⚡ Energy Savings: Recycling flat glass uses less energy than manufacturing new glass from raw materials.
