We get it... there's a lot to take in when it comes to learning about the Sustainable Development Goals. So how does one actually support their completion and help promote this much needed wellbeing for both people and planet in the name of #peace? Well, specifically for #sdg14 you can... 1) Find a Goal 14 charity you want to support. Any donation, big or small, can make a difference and oftentimes these charities need hands-on volunteering as well! 2) Buy local and certified fish. You can support small-scale producers by shopping in local markets and shops; this not only helps the local environment but also local economy! 3) Organize a cleanup project for rivers and oceans. Engage your community to clean up a local river, seaside, or an ocean like our amazing friends do at UOCEAN® 2050

Steps we can take to help restore our planet and wellbeing It’s not always easy being 'green', it can be more costly, sometimes it can limit choices (though for me less choice is not always a bad thing), but the changes you make do feel good and do good. There are big things and little things we can all do: - from where we shop - what we buy - who we invest with - who we support - what we use our voice for - how we reuse, repurpose or mend things - and how we inspire others… No matter the size, all actions count and add up to help restore our beautiful planet. Can you help us Seed the Change this April? For the first year ever, we are taking part in the Big Give, Green Match Fund. The campaign is live for one week only, between 18th-25th April 2024, and at midday next Thursday we will launch our Seed the Change campaign. Our target is £20,000 and we only have ONE WEEK to do it! Can you help us spread the word? £2,500 will help us install an advanced mooring system, helping to protect valuable seagrass meadows from damage. £1,000 helps us install a marker buoy to help water users identify sensitive habitats and steer clear. £1,600 helps us take carbon core samples to understand the effectiveness of sequestered carbon. £400 helps us take eDNA samples to understand the incredible biodiversity of our meadows. £300 helps us engage a community, sharing our love of seagrass and helping more water users understand why it needs our respect and protection. £5 covers the price of a natural fibre mat that we use to place our seagrass seedlings onto the seabed. Second Harvest Inland Northwest has been living sustainably for over 50 years. A core part of our work, getting food to people facing hunger is the rescue of food that may otherwise go to waste. Today we have a program called Grocery Rescue that matches neighborhood foodbanks with grocery stores, we rescued 12.5 million pounds of food in 2023. We also work with many food producers to get donations. Our total food distribution in 2023 was over 35 million pounds and most of that was rescued and donated. As we enter 2024 our sustainability efforts and commitment to feeding people facing hunger continues. In fact, we are leaning in even more aggressively to get the most out of our operations with Zilch – an effort to waste less and feed more. Since the beginning of the year, we have added 19 new organizations that we are helping. There are lots of ways for the business community to be a part of this effort through sponsorship and volunteering.  #sustainability #Zilch #helpingeachother
