Guadalupe County Hospital converted to a Rural Emergency Hospital in November 2023. Thank you to their team for sharing insights from their journey to becoming an REH and on the support they received from our REH Technical Assistance Center after conversion. “The REH Technical Assistance Center is super easy to work with, they provided support to us on policy development, program development, putting us in touch with other REH CEOs on an individual basis as well as the Peer Group.” —Christina Campos, Former CEO of Guadalupe County Hospital. 🏥📡 We are pleased to share the recently opened Tweed Valley Hospital is equipped with Public Safety Network coverage through In-Building Coverage (IBC). This ensures first responders have access to uninterrupted emergency radio communications once inside the major hospital’s emergency department. Reliable network coverage is paramount when a paramedic, for example, is in a building or tunnel attending a call out and needs to transmit critical information about the patient or their location. The IBC integration at Tweed Valley Hospital ensures our emergency services and more than 60 essential services stay connected while helping northern NSW communities remain safe. The IBC fit out is part of the $723.3m state-of-the-art hospital development, the largest capital health investment in the NSW North Coast region in the state’s history. Excited to launch our ambitious Strategic Plan 2024- 2026 today. Care-First is at the heart of our strategy, amplifying the voice of residents in homes and championing care philosophies and responding to evolving needs. The title of HOMES for the strategy reflects the ambition of NHI to highlight(H), organise(O), motivate(M), engage(E) and shape(S) the environment for residents of nursing homes and our members. Our strategy is brought to life by the word ‘homes’: highlighting the voices of residents and members; organising campaigns to have their voices heard; motivating the Government and society at large; engaging our residents and members; and shaping the provision of care for our ageing population. If you or your organization want to play a leading role in attracting doctors here, let me know. This issue was prioritized by our municipal partners as a key economic constraint but no single organization, municipality or govt policy can solve it alone. It’s requires a collaborative, cross-sectoral, region-wide effort.
Meet Dr. Dennis Kim, Medical Director of Trauma Services, Island Health - Vancouver Island Health Authority. Healthcare professionals like Dr. Dennis Kim often have their choice of places to live and work. But after 12 years in Southern California, Dennis and his wife decided to leave Los Angeles to return to Canada, where they had both grown up. In Greater Victoria, they found opportunity, a better quality of life, and a safe, healthy place to raise their family. “I think that ‘aha’ moment came for me when I decided to do a locum at Royal Jubilee and Victoria General [hospitals]. It was really just meeting the people in the ICU and emergency room, and right off the bat getting a sense that this was just home.” Rise with us at victoriarising.ca #yyj #victoriabc #victoriarising

Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands and Japan and other Democratic capitalistic nations ensure access for all their citizens to quality affordable private insured and private fee for service manufactured medical care at a fraction of the cost of America’s insurance centric healthcare mess with better outcomes and costs and more hospitals per capita than in America. They achieve this simply by making health insurers profit-neutralized utilities instead of luxuries. It’s called the Bismarck HC model and it works. Healthcare Executives 🏥 During my last conversation with Scott Becker we talked about how rural hospitals can attract doctors/specialists by bringing them “back home” to where they grew up or have roots. The story below is about an extremely talented OB/GYN who moved his 30+ year practice, w/4,000 patients to a 50-bed rural hospital that’s closer to where he grew up. Why did he do it? He’ll talk about less bureaucracy, great nurses, more familiarity and one-on-one time w/patients, less hassle for the patients, less hassle for the physicians, and administration/leadership are appreciative and responsive. https://lnkd.in/gpxqMeuQ

As a healthcare provider, Mercy is committed to providing the best possible care to its patients. That's why we rely on Mercy Technology Services (MTS) to support our mission. MTS plays a critical role in pioneering a new model of care by building and managing Mercy's gold star-rated Epic electronic health record, conducting groundbreaking work in data analytics to improve patient care, and ensuring easy access to Mercy services through the MyMercy patient portal, our website, on-site systems, and more. MTS' hard work has paid off. We're proud to announce that MTS was named one of the Most Wired by CHIME. But that's not all. One of MTS' most important duties is ensuring the availability and security of patient health records. That's why we invested $60 million in building a state-of-the-art data center in Washington, Missouri, with fail-safe features that can withstand a variety of natural events, power or water interruptions, and even building failures. Plus, a second data center in Sunset Hills, Missouri, runs every system in parallel to ensure maximum uptime. At Mercy, we believe that better data leads to better care. That's why we've been collecting clinical data for more than a decade. MTS' experts use cutting-edge analytics tools to learn from that data, finding which processes and products lead to better patient experiences. By doing so, we have reduced mortality rates by 50% for patients with heart failure, pneumonia, and colectomy patients. We are also preventing more than 17,000 unnecessary blood transfusions every year and decreasing the time it takes to administer a diuretic to patients with heart failure by nearly three hours. At Mercy, we're committed to providing the best possible care to our patients. And with MTS' help, we're making great strides towards that goal. #Healthcare #ITJobs #DataScience #Jobs #Analytics https://lnkd.in/gDAi4X8s
