Plan Voisin was a proposal put forward by Le Corbusier, a pioneering modernist architect, in 1925. It was a bold urban plan designed to transform central Paris into a grid of skyscrapers and highways. Le Corbusier envisioned demolishing the historic city center and replacing it with rows of identical high-rise buildings surrounded by parks and transportation infrastructure. Le Corbusier exerted a strong influence on the urban planning concepts of the 1960s and 1970s, but was also rejected as a model of inhumane, schematic grid architecture. In Malta many architects hate #specialisation and that is one of the main reasons why the sector is a mess. The word #Perit is ambigious in itself. How can one be good at architecture, interiors, engineering and planning. Abroad, one would never approach a #structuralengineer to obtain a planning permit. If we want to improve quality then our #profession itself must be tackled. And once tackled we will start to see a slow but steady improvement in the quality of our #buildings. For example complex structures will require #complex engineering which is something I do and manage to achieve at cost effective rates. However, I am definitely not the person to go to for #complexplanningpermits and I never accept those tasks. Also when considering brilliant design architects such as #RichardEngland, #NormanFoster or #RenzoPiano you would hardly expect them to design the structural engineering system. #quality #architecture #construction #engineering

Fantastic idea and aim. Sad then that Mr Pringle feels he must defend the price tag and justify it “especially in a (recession)”. Which far more than the ‘hefty’ cost im left focusing on and sad even needs mention. As even in the hardest of circumstances if we’re honest, no one from investors to the end customer themselves wants to hear, think or care about a recession. If it’s a great product , if it’s beautiful or it simply works exactly as it should and is of a quality that delivers the value paid for….everyone will buy into it and spend regardless.. exactly the same as they would (apparent) recession or not. A lack of confidence in knowing this is the very reason the recession exists in the first place. 👏 nicely done Mr Pringle & the RIBA, for Investing in confidence.
