Meanwhile in Germany, someone likes doing radical sports. While, in itself, this type of event is pretty happens in some networks of Europe, to maximize platform occupation, in my judgement, the speed of the Eurobahn train might be some what excessive for that context. To minimize the risks, when trains are running on sight (as is this case, no matter the legal definition of this), some networks impose a specific speed restriction, usually around 30 or 40 km/h. In the Portuguese case, I can tell you that it is 30 km/h but at this point would probably already have the ATP forcing me to slow to 15 km/h because of the "lack of overlap" approach to the signal at the end of the platform which usually happens whenever you get permissive working into a platform in Portugal. https://lnkd.in/d_G9ZVfp

The 2024 European Football Championship leaves a mixed impression on the hospitality industry in Germany⚽ The European Football Championship is over and the expectations of the hospitality industry for Euro 2024 have not been fully met. Germany's early exit put an abrupt end to the summer fairytale not only for the fans, but also for the industry😕 The DEHOGA Bundesverband reports that the European Football Championship in Germany has not resulted in any growth in turnover for the hospitality industry. According to a survey of 2,730 businesses conducted by the DEHOGA Bundesverband, around 88 % of the restaurants and hotels surveyed did not record any positive effects. Only 8.1 % were able to benefit from the European Championship, with pubs, bars and beer gardens in host cities such as Berlin and Hamburg reporting a better response. Dehoga President Guido Zöllick said that the changeable weather and the elimination of the German team in the quarterfinals had dampened the mood. Nevertheless, the European Championship was an important driving force for strengthening tourism in Germany. What impact did you see during Euro 2024? Share your experiences in the comments!💬👇 More information on the current Dehoga survey can be found here: https://lnkd.in/ebSSeRcp #engelvoelkershotelconsulting #evhc #EM2024 #Hospitality #Gastronomy #Hospitality #Dehoga

Congratulations to Spain for the victory in the UEFA EURO Championships! ⚽🚄 Germany has been buzzing during this month-long festival of football that was filled with passion, colors, and memories with 24 nations taking part. Let’s not forget the role of rail travel and the rail staff and volunteers who helped connect football fans to the 51 matches played across 10 German cities. Even players (not enough in my opinion) were connected via rail with some teams taking trains to games from their training camps. Here the Swiss won the “train-use championships” with five rail journeys in the tournament. Overall, the performance of Deutsche Bahn was very good given the high demand and challenging weather at times, with only three major delay incidents caused mainly by infrastructure issues. Most complaints were actually for regional or local tram services. Still, this shows how crucial the digitalization and renovation of the core network that Deutsche Bahn has initiated is to restrict this in the future. The same is true for local and regional networks where once again digitalization can limit disruption and quicken the service recovery from major incidents. The challenge for such major events is huge with Berlin alone having 1.9 million visitors for the Euros. Deutsche Bahn says six million passengers traveled on ICE and IC trains in the busy first two weeks of the tournament. It added 14 special daily trains for 10,000 additional seats and sold 180,000 fan travel tickets, 60,000 fan BahnCards, and 7,000 EURO Interrail passes before the tournament even began. The marketing drive from DB for the event was “One team. For the climate,” so maybe the environment joins Spain as another winner here! 🏆 #euro2024 #rail #sustainabletravel

🏃♂️ 🏅 🏊♀️ 5.3 million spectators are expected to descend on Paris for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and all eyes are on the city’s public transport. The city’s goal is to ensure that all competition venues are accessible by public transport services or active travel routes. In anticipation of the Games, new metro lines have been added, and two existing lines have been extended. Despite this work, some venue locations remain isolated from the public transport network. The game's organisers identified 6 remote venue locations. Working with transport planners at Ile de France mobilites, 10 new shuttle bus services have been created to connect spectators to these remote venues from existing metro stations. In our guide, find out how to use Podaris to plan and analyse shuttle bus routes for the 2024 Paris Olympics: 💾 import GTFS data 🚍 create new routes 🏙 import supporting datasets (venues, population, etc) 📊 analyse the changes and present results to stakeholders How would you plan new shuttle services for a major event? #publictransport #transportplanning #olympics2024 #paris

Disaster and Chaos at the Miami Hard Rock Stadium I am not here to blame one side or the other, but rather to bring attention to the importance of crowd engineering for event planning. This is one type of engineering I would not usually think about, but when situations like what happened at the Miami Hard Rock Stadium occur, its importance becomes apparent. - 60,000 fans were expected to attend the match. - Some fans gained entry to the stadium without tickets. - To counteract this, stadium gates were closed. - The game was delayed by more than 75 minutes. - Thousands of ticket holders were pushed against the gates, awaiting entry. - Stadium gates had to be reopened, welcoming even those without tickets. - Once maximum occupancy was reached, the gates were closed again. - Thousands of ticket holders were left outside of the stadium. While it is understandable that the chaos was not solely due to poor planning but also due to some wrongful behavior by the fans, some questions arise: - What steps should have been taken to prevent this? - What should have been the best response? - Is the country's infrastructure ready for more events of this caliber? How can we prepare better for future events? What happened at the Copa America final between Colombia and Argentina is only a foreshadowing of what we can expect at the 2026 World Cup if the appropriate measures are not taken. #CopaAmerica #Miami #Florida #Soccer #HardRockStadium #EventEngineering #CrowdEngineering #Engineering #Sports #Colombia #Argentina

⚽ As Euro 2024 kicks off, we find ourselves in a complex global landscape marked by economic, political, and geopolitical challenges. Yet, amidst these difficulties, the excitement and passion for football remain undiminished. ⚽ 💙 While we revel in the excitement of Euro 2024, let's also keep in our hearts and minds the children and individuals worldwide suffering from war, malnutrition, starvation, and child labor. Their struggles remind us of the fragility of life and the importance of compassion and empathy in our actions and decisions. 💙 💪 Like you, I have a favorite team and will be on the edge of my seat at every match, every action, and every goal. 💪 🤝 However, it is important to remember that beyond the thrilling spectacle, the team that emerges victorious will be the one with the best strategy, the better skilled players, and the strongest team spirit. This is a testament to the power of unity, preparation, and resilience. 🤝 🔔 In the same way, organizations navigating today's uncertain world can learn a great deal from this. Leadership that prioritizes strategic planning, cultivates talent, and fosters a cohesive team culture is better positioned to overcome obstacles and achieve its vision. 🔔 ✅ Just as in football, success in business and relationships requires not just individual brilliance but a collective effort where every member plays their part to the fullest. ✅ 🎉 Let's enjoy the games and take inspiration from the field, applying those lessons to lead our teams with humility and determination towards success. 🎉 Mais avant tout...Que le meilleur gagne ⚽ 🏆 #Euro2024 #Leadership #Teamwork #Strategy #Resilience
