"Accessibility/connectivity analysis is now so common - perhaps more common than transport modelling - does it not deserve its own distinct element within DfT’s Transport Appraisal Guidance (TAG?)" Last month, our CTO Devon Barrett shared our experience supporting Bus Connectivity Assessments (BCAs) in Local Transport Today and TAPAS. Podaris, alongside WSP in the UK, developed a toolkit within the web-based Podaris platform to support the bus connectivity assessments of over one in five English local authorities. One of the metrics the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom's guidance requested local authorities to quantify was what percentage of residents could travel by bus within 30 minutes to groups of destinations. However, it gave no suggestion for how to calculate waiting time, walk speeds, or time windows. The lack of common parameters and detailed guidance can only make it hard to compare and contrast metrics at a national level. Read more in the article: https://lnkd.in/e2su_yVf What do you think? Should TAG include a section on accessibility analysis? #TransportPlanning #AccessibilityAnalysis #UrbanMobility #GIS #PublicTransport Landor LINKS Ltd Bus Centre of Excellence Tom van Vuren MBE

The powerful online platform for collaborative transport planning, engineering, analysis, and stakeholder engagment.
About us
The world needs better transport systems, from cycle paths to trams to high speed rail. But planning can take years or decades of feasibility studies and public consultations. It has never been harder to get everyone on the same page. Introducing Podaris. Podaris is an online collaboration platform for transport infrastructure planning, engineering, and public engagement. Podaris gets everyone on the same page, from the earliest stages of project development. Here’s how it works. Planners begin by sketching their infrastructure ideas using intelligent engineering tools, which can accurately calculate the travel-time, capacity, and physical footprint of any type of transport system, letting you rapidly understand the costs and benefits. But infrastructure planning doesn’t just need better tools — it needs better collaboration, between planners, engineers, technology providers, and stakeholder groups. Podaris makes that easy, enabling real-time collaboration with anyone in the world, shortening feedback cycles from months to milliseconds. Podaris saves time and money, and makes it easier to create better transport projects. So if you want to create the transportation of tomorrow, get in touch to book a demo with us today!

🚀 Introducing Transfer Limit Analysis in Podaris! 🚀 We are excited to announce the launch of a new Transfer Limit Analysis feature in Podaris, designed to enhance how you visualize spatial accessibility across networks. With Transfer Limit Analysis, you can: ❓ Visualize how many transfers are needed to reach specific locations 👥 Perform demographic analyses to answer important questions, like “how many residents can access a hospital with up to 2 transfers?” 📊 Analyze and export accessibility data in formats like GIS and CSV Like all of our connectivity analysis features, Podaris allows you to set parameters such as maximum walking distances, transit times, and transfer limits, helping you understand how well-connected your network is. Best of all, the results are visually represented using colour-coded bands to show accessibility levels by transfer. Ready to simplify and speed up your network accessibility analysis? 👇 Try it now with Podaris! 👇 https://lnkd.in/e4eKKVcP #PublicTransport #Transit #UrbanMobility #SpatialAnalysis #Podaris #GIS #NetworkPlanning #accessibilityanalysis

Last month, I had the fantastic opportunity to visit South Korea as part of a UK-South Korean digital transport innovation project. The aim? To create two Digital Twins: one of Liverpool City Region Combined Authority’s bus network, and the other of the city of Busan - an exciting project to bring smarter, more equitable transport to life! 🚌💡 The visit provided a great chance to meet our South Korean partners in person for the first time, and we got straight down to business with in-person workshops. We shared ideas, knowledge, and kicked off the early stages of building the Digital Twin prototypes together 🤝🌍 ✨ Some personal highlights include: 🚄 Whizzing across the country on Korea's high-speed trains was an experience in itself – looking forward to hopefully seeing high-speed rail introduced across the UK (Autumn budget? 👀) 🏗️ Exploring the North Port Redevelopment Area, the focus of the Korean Digital Twin. I was genuinely blown away by how much they've achieved in such a short space of time. ✍️ The cherry on top was signing MoUs with Pusan National University and Sundosoft Inc, solidifying our commitment to an ongoing partnership well beyond this project. And finally, the heartfelt hospitality of our hosts: Sundasoft Inc, Pusan National University, Busan Metropolitan City, and Busan Techno Park who made sure we enjoyed a Korean BBQ or two! Feeling inspired and can’t wait to see how this UK-South Korean collaboration evolves 🌐🔗 Podaris Liverpool City Region Combined Authority University of Liverpool Innovate UK Devon Podaris Sam Hyde Heeseo Rain Kwon Alex Singleton Patrick Ballantyne Ákos Balog Anthony Mtitimila HoonJoo Yoon Sujin Son Jinuk Hwang Jinhyeok Jang #DigitalInnovation #SmartCities #DigitalTwin #UKSouthKoreaCollaboration #TransportTech

🌟 Exciting times this week as we gear up for the National Transport Awards, where our partnership with Gloucestershire County Council and Padam Mobility has earned us a nomination in the ‘Best Collaboration of the Year’ category for Gloucestershire’s Demand Responsive Transport scheme, The Robin! 🚌 Our collaboration has successfully established a comprehensive data-sharing pipeline, integrating information on bus services, frequencies, and patronage. This has allowed The Robin to complement the existing public transport network, ensuring those who need access to rural, subsidised, and sustainable transport can do so, without competing with fixed-route services. The result? A flexible and efficient transport option that truly serves those who need it most 🙌 Transport Times | News & Analysis | Events Thea Rumer James West #PublicTransport #Transport #NTAs #DRT #DemandResponsiveTransport

🚌 Thank you to Stelios Rodoulis, Bus Centre of Excellence, Landor LINKS Ltd, and everyone else who helped make #QualityBus2024 a success. What an amazing time to be part of public transport in the UK! 💡 It was great to hear Transport for Greater Manchester's Stephen Rhodes talk about how TFGM's pioneering bus franchising efforts are going, one year in. The rest of the country is certainly looking towards that with great interest. We were also honoured to present with Julian Moss of WSP in the UK the important work we've done in supporting Bus Connectivity Assessments for numerous local authorities. Between new franchising strategies, new assessment techniques, and new political will, it seems like this may truly be a tipping point for the whole sector. 💻 The Podaris team hosted workshops that gave participants hands-on experience in bus planning and network analysis with the Podaris platform. If you weren't able to attend, schedule a demo today! https://lnkd.in/gjNH5WNB #PublicTransport #TransportPlanning #BusFranchising #TransportInnovation #ConnectivityAssessments #TransportPolicy #UKTransport #TransportTech #FutureOfTransport
