Allyship is a journey of understanding, empathy, and action. It’s about listening to the voices of the #LGBTQIA+ community, amplifying their messages, and advocating for change. It’s about educating ourselves and others, challenging biases, and pushing for inclusive policies and practices. This Pride Month, let’s commit to being more than allies in name. Let’s be allies in our actions, our words, and our hearts. Because when we lift each other up, we all rise together. 💪🏳️🌈 Click the link to view our #WordsatWork Guide. https://lnkd.in/eVrnTFb4 #ManpowerGroupPride #CelebratePride

🌈 Navigating the world as a trans or non-binary person can bring unique challenges, especially when it comes to being 'clocked.' Our latest training video, 'What if they clock me?', addresses this sensitive topic with the depth and understanding it deserves. 🎥🌟 Being 'clocked' can be more than just an uncomfortable moment; it can increase worries, limit freedom, and unfortunately, sometimes lead to greater violence and discrimination. This course delves into these realities, offering strategies and insights to handle such situations with dignity and strength. Interestingly, the term 'clocked' originally emerged in the context of racial experiences but has since been embraced by the gender-diverse community to describe their own experiences. This course explores this intersectionality, making it a valuable resource for clinicians, trans individuals, and allies alike. In just one hour and for only £19.99, you'll gain a comprehensive understanding of this complex issue. Whether you're seeking to support others or empower yourself, this course is an essential step in your journey. Join us for an enlightening experience that balances empathy with practical advice. Happy Pride *and* keep going, keep growing, this month and beyond. Use your resources and access to get yourself and others the training they need to make systemic changes that uplift all people. Sometimes this involves a bit of risk, and that's what it is to be an accomplice--the most active and impactful form of allyship. Really show up for queer and trans people in all industries and facets of every day life, especially if its uncomfortable, especially if you fear you may lose respect from an authority figure or resources from a gatekeeper. You know how far you can push it--make that call and go for it. Keep going, keep growing. Even for those of us who identify within the LGBTQIA+ community, many of us hold privileges that others don't. We are a nonmonolithic, incredibly diverse community. There's always something we can learn and do better at in our inclusivity practice. Leverage what you have at your finger tips and understand that just because you're gay and comfortable that doesn't mean the fight has ended. Keep going, keep growing. I'm here to help you and others do it along with you! I'm available for speaking engagements, trainings, and consultations, from brief presentations and day long workshops to ongoing support with big projects and plans. I serve nationally and internationally while based on the ancestral homelands of sovereign Native nations, including the Tequesta, the Calusa, and today, the Seminole Tribe of Florida, and the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida. DM me or reach out via deviate2elevate.com Alternatively, share my information with someone who you know may benefit from my support. If I can't address their goals, I give referrals to those who can. Photo by Victoria Gonzalez #happypride #lgbtqpridemonth #lgbtqconsulting #lgbtqinclusivity #workplacedei #lgbtqinclusion

Fostering inclusive narratives is paramount for amplifying the voices of underrepresented groups (URGs) within our society. Without such visibility, there is a risk that individuals from majority groups may overlook or discount the experiences of URGs, perpetuating a narrative of non-existence. To combat this, organizations must implement robust internal communication strategies aimed at showcasing the stories and experiences of individuals from URGs. By providing a platform for these narratives to be shared, we can challenge preconceived notions and promote a culture of inclusivity. Let's embrace #YesWeExist and prioritize #inclusion through the power of #storytelling. #URGs #lgbtqia

As we celebrate the Pride season this summer, I feel compelled to share a part of my identity. I am queer, and I am proud. 🏳️🌈 In Alberta, we’ve seen a troubling rise in hate towards the 2SLGBTQ+ community. It’s disheartening but has also reinforced the importance of visibility and representation. I am out of LinkedIn and Rogers Communications, for those who feel unseen and unheard. I believe that our workplace environments should be sanctuaries of inclusivity and respect, where everyone can be their authentic selves without fear. This Pride season let’s stand together against hate and celebrate the beautiful diversity of our community. To all my 2SLGBTQ+ friends and allies in Alberta and beyond, know that you are not alone. Let’s continue supporting each other, not just during Pride, but daily. 🌈 Call to Action: I encourage each of you to take a moment to reflect on how you can contribute to a more inclusive world. Whether through education, advocacy, or simply offering a listening ear, our actions matter. If you’re looking for ways to get involved, consider supporting local 2SLGBTQ+ organizations and participating in Pride events. Visibility Matters. I hope that one day I don’t have to talk about being queer. A day when I am just known as Jay. A day when we all can live without fear and love whom we love. #Pride #Inclusivity #Diversity #OutAndProud #2SLGBTQ+ #ConversationsForChange #OutOnLinkedIn

🌟 Day 5: Decentering Whiteness: Creating Space for All Voices 🌟 In our ongoing celebration of Pride and Juneteenth, today we focus on the crucial task of decentering whiteness in our movements. By challenging the dominance of white perspectives, we create space for marginalized voices and build more inclusive communities. 🔍 Key Highlights: James Baldwin: Writer and social critic, addressing the complexities of race, sexuality, and class. Andrea Jenkins: First openly transgender Black woman elected to public office in the U.S., advocating for intersectional justice. Miss Major Griffin-Gracy: Transgender activist fighting for the rights of trans women of color and decentering whiteness in the LGBTQ+ movement. Quote of the Day: "The master's tools will never dismantle the master's house." – Audre Lorde Decentering whiteness is not about excluding white-skinned people but about removing the limited lens imposed by white supremacy. This approach enriches our movements, making them more inclusive and effective. 📖 Read more and join the conversation on my Substack newsletter 🎉 Upcoming Workshop! 🎉 Join us for the live workshop "Building Intentional Communities" at the end of this month to delve deeper into community-building strategies. 🔗 Register for the workshop here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eTcK86xa 💡 Support Equity in Education Consider becoming a paid subscriber to support equity in education. Happy Frigay!!!! I'm here to remind you of the desperate need to stand up against the rising hate and discrimination against the LGBTQIA+ community. Our unique journeys have shaped us into the individuals we are today, each with our own stories, experiences, and identities. These differences are not something to be feared or judged, but rather celebrated and embraced. The LGBTQIA+ community, in particular, has faced numerous challenges throughout history, and recently there has been a surge in discrimination and violence against our community. The political theater, rise in hate groups, and brutal attack on trans kids and the trans community as a whole, continues to be a stain on our country, and around the world. Now, more than ever, we need your unwavering support and kindness. 💪🏽💕 It's crucial that we stand together, learn from each other, and create a world where everyone can thrive, where everyone can be safe. Your support, whether it's through advocacy, allyship, or simply being a friend, can make a world of difference to our community right now. Will you be a change-makers? An Ally? We need you. We need advocates for a brighter, more inclusive future. We can't do this without your support. 🌠❤️ Spread kindness, embrace differences, and let's work together to make the world a better place for everyone. 🤗🌏 ~ A proud Trans Man, who's only agenda, is fighting for a more equitable and safe existence, for all. #KindnessMatters #LGBTQIA+ #SupportEachOther #InclusionMatters

There are some really scary things happening in the world. And the most horrific, the wars, are distracting from others that will potentially set us back, in terms of freedom of thought, speech and education, by more than fifty years. Today I am thinking specifically about the book bans taking place in the US. And I don’t know how many European neighbours know about it. Hence this post. In the last few years thousands of books have been banned in the US, in an attempt to silence members of the LGBTQ+ community and people of color. The Color Purple - banned ⛔️ To Kill A Mockingbird - banned ⛔️ The Hill We Climb by poet laureate Amanda Gorman - banned ⛔️ - and thousands more ⛔️⛔️⛔️⛔️⛔️⛔️ 40% of the bans are in the state of Florida. This week my absolute idol P!nk is touring in Florida. So she has bought ALL of the banned books, in their tens of thousands, and she is giving them away for free to her concert audience. (Every time I think I couldn’t love that kickass, compassionate humanitarian any more she does something incredible like this) So what do we do? How do we respond? Our human progress is being halted and cut at the root - by killing the stories and ideas of those who aren’t white, cisgender and probably Christian. It makes me feel sick to the stomach. If this book ban isn’t halted how will the future generations of our American neighbours evolve - or not evolve? And how will this impact on our global levels of civility and intelligence? Anyhow. I am just sharing this atrocity because I think we should all have our eyes wide open as to what else that is unbearable is going on out there in the world. To keep up on this topic please follow PEN America. #USbookbans #bookbans #censorship #diversity

Pride Month Is Over OR for the rest of the year: We can vote in every election available to us. We can keep discussions going about laws that provide and preserve human rights for all. We can stay mindful of our words around those who might still be figuring out who they are. We can provide a safe space for questions, stories, and people who want to come out to us. We can speak up when we hear overt or covert anti-LGBTQIA+ comments. We can ask for change when we notice anything that is not inclusive. We can study and learn from experts and listen to and read stories of lived experience. We can speak words of love, care, acceptance, and support. We can be open, curious, and seek understanding without placing the burden of our ignorance on LGBTQIA+ people. We can …? #pride2024 #lgbtiqa+ #allyship #integrity #dei #loveislove

🏳️🌈 💙 🏳️⚧️ Today, on IDAHOBIT (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia), we celebrate the strength and diversity of our LGBTQIA+ colleagues and friends. As a straight ally, I am honoured to know some of the smartest, funniest, and kindest individuals within this community. Their love is just one aspect of their rich and multifaceted identities. We all benefit from embracing diverse perspectives and bringing our whole selves to work and play. Although I am continually learning how to be a better ally and create safe, inclusive spaces, I want it to be known that you can always feel safe with me. **Why is IDAHOBIT important?** - 66% of LGBTQIA+ youth in Australia still experience abuse due to their identity. - 35% of LGBTQIA+ Australians have experienced verbal abuse in the past 12 months. - 68% of LGBTQIA+ employees in Australia are not out to everyone at work. At UQ Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences we’re hosting a rainbow-themed morning tea to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ community and show we are a safe space. Let’s continue working towards a world where everyone feels welcome and respected. 🙌 Remember, progress has been made, but there’s still much work ahead. Let’s keep advocating for safe, inclusive spaces for all. Together, we can make a difference! 💪 --- *The image features a bold statement in large, black font that reads “I am a safe person.” On the right side, there’s a vertical spectrum of colours resembling the rainbow flag, symbolising LGBTQ+ pride. Below the main statement, smaller text lists various identities and assures inclusivity and safety for those individuals.* #IDAHOBIT #LGBTQIA+ #LoveIsLove #InclusionMatters #BeAnAlly
