Australians are wonderfully generous 💞, and the not-for-profit sector benefits from it. According to McCridle's data of 2024, four in five Australians, or 84%, have given financially to charities or not-for-profits. It shows that there are over 59,000 registered charities that employ 1.42 million people and have an estimated 3.2 million volunteers in Australia. 75% of Australians give annually, and 24% give monthly. The interesting shift is from regular giving to spontaneous need-driven giving. This can be influenced by the fact that older generations prefer established charities while Gen Z favours start-up disrupters. Gen Y is the most neutral on giving to a start-up (44%) or an established charity (56%). International Day of Charity. I find myself acknowleding the indispensable role that charities, social enterprises, and voluntary organisations play in our communities today. Today is a day to celebrate their global impact, but we are also confronted by the very real reality of persistent funding challenges and the threat they hold to so many organisations. - Charities are expected to do more with less - Vital services are stretched to breaking point - The fight for funding intensifies, making it harder to secure grants - There's an over-reliance on donations and volunteers to cover systemic shortfalls This situation isn't just unsustainable—it's unfair to those who depend on these services and to the dedicated individuals working tirelessly in the sector. As we honor the incredible work done by charities today, let's also advocate for proper, sustainable funding. Our society cannot truly thrive if we leave behind those in need. #InternationalDayOfCharity #ThirdSector #SustainableFunding #CommunitySupport

The amount of money donated to food bank charities has increased by 50% year on year, according to our research. This increase comes at a critical time, as the latest official statistics from the government reveal that 3.3% of households used a food bank within the last year. The operational costs for these essential charities have also increased due to the ongoing cost-of-living crisis. As a result, there is an urgent need for increased donations to ensure that they can continue to pay rent and to keep the lights on. Neil Heslop OBE, our Chief Executive, reflects on the community's response: “Even when times are tough, it’s heart-warming to see how people respond generously to support charities around the UK providing for more and more families. For those who can’t afford to give more, volunteering your time or donating goods is also a crucial way to help charities.” Read more: https://brnw.ch/21wJQhD #FoodBanks #Charities #Philanthropy

One of the joys of starting #CapitalKCommunications has been the wide range of clients I’ve had the pleasure of working with to achieve great things, including the amazing Queensland Gives by Queensland Community Foundation. Recently I've been busy crafting announcements, building media relationships and helping secure terrific coverage of the valuable work being done by Queensland Gives as they support and promote charity organisations throughout Queensland. Over the past week or so, Queensland Gives has announced more than $1 million in funding for dozens of charities, large and small, to help them get on with what they do best – building stronger, healthier and happier communities. And that’s just the start - this financial year, Queensland Gives will distribute more than $5 million to charities, with its unique model ensuring ongoing and permanent income streams for organisations into the future. All donations and bequests to Queensland Gives have longterm benefits for charities, with all donations over $2 being tax deductible. Donations and bequests are invested and dividends are distributed every year amongst hundreds of worthy charities. With the support of founding sponsors QIC and Anglo American, in effect anyone who donates to Queensland Gives is giving to Queenslanders for generations to come. It’s great to get good headlines for clients - it’s even better to know it’s for a good cause 💕 #philanthropy #mediaadvisory #givegood #volunteers #strategicadvisory

Actively engaging with Quality People and Enterprising Organisations to achieve their full potential. Leading analysis, defining, refining, purpose and delivering outputs. Building strategic foresight to deliver now
“Despite the backing of more than 1,400 charities, our call on the Chancellor to address chronic underfunding of public services was overlooked. “Not uplifting grants and contracts to cover the true cost of delivering them means some charities will be forced to close or reduce the services they offer, leaving people at risk.” From Thirdsector.co.uk This is telling is it not? We now expect charities to be supported rather than the public services themselves? Surely we have to look again at what is public-private partnership? Much of this is contracting out of services and support and how can another set of administrative costs deliver value for money? Through the goodwill of people volunteering their time and skills? Where are lobbying organisations to challenge the void apparent in public service provision? Philanthropic giving a critical ingredient beyond public funds and much talk of moving from public-private partnership, PPP, to 4Ps with the philanthropy adding the 4th P and causing thought on the role and remit of so many organisations. Fundamental: what is the role of government in social wellbeing?

It's Small Charity Week, and the fact is, many of us in the UK believe our government should do more to back small charities. With the cost-of-living crisis worsening, over a quarter of us turn to these organisations for weekly support, highlighting their critical role in our communities. 🌟 NCVO's latest insights reveal disturbing trends: a significant portion of our population relies on small charities as the last resort for essential services. They're not just nice-to-have; for many, they are a necessity. 🏥💚 Everyone can contribute. Consider donating or volunteering - it's time to simplify the process and amplify our impact. These charities are at the heart of fighting loneliness and building community bonds, but they need our reinforcement to keep doing their vital work. 🤝 Want to make a difference? New data has shown that central government grants to charities fell by over a quarter during 2022-2023. Around one billion less was given to the sector compared to the year before, however it has been suggested that this was due to an increase in emergency funding being distributed during the Covid-19 pandemic. Whilst some government departments continued to provide the same amount or more than the previous year, many others significantly reduced their grant funding; the biggest drop was seen with the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities. https://buff.ly/3zfbtGq #governmentgrants #voluntarysector #charitynews #charitysector #charityfunding #covid19 #pandemic

A recent survey by Temporary Use Aid reveals that 73% of charities find it moderately or extremely difficult to secure spaces. Conducted with over 200 charities, volunteer groups, and social enterprises, the survey highlights the pressing issue of space acquisition in the non-profit sector. However, there's hope. By collaborating with charities, property owners can save more on business rates than through 'box-shifting'. This partnership can provide essential support for vulnerable residents and help charities operate smoothly. Have you encountered similar challenges in securing operational spaces? Shaping people’s financial success stories is wonderful, but it’s not enough. That’s why, at Infinite Wealth, we believe that financial freedom should not come at the cost of social responsibility. Our vision lines it up perfectly: While we work to enable people to live a life free from financial constraints, we do so so that they can pursue the things that really matter to them, and make a difference in the world. We commit to doing that too, as we donate 10% of our profits to charities and community projects. Our donations go to charities and community organisations that work at the coalface of solving socio-economic problems, from supporting the homeless to helping animals in need, and so many more. Giving back is part of enabling true change, for everyone across Australia. #financialfreedom #Charity #InfiniteWealth
