In few days I will be presenting our paper (and beyond it!) at Tecniplast 's #DVF3 forum. I am thrilled to collect critical feedback and comments on the concept that a Minimal Metadata Set (MNMS) may enable repurposing of nonclinical in-vivo data on a global scale. Implementation of MNMS will be a quantum leap forward for the #3Rs and #animalwelfare . I will highlight the central role of Core Facilities in the adoption of MNMS and how this adoption will change biomedical research via multi-center studies, therefore boosting external validity and translational power of our findings. Bonus point: few examples from home cage monitoring technologies and behavior discovery! Discover LIVECell, a new dataset of manually annotated, label-free, phase-contrast images of 2D cell culture. This dataset consists of more than 1.6 million annotated cells of eight morphologically distinct cell types. LIVECell has undergone rigorous quality assurance to minimize bias in the annotations. This article provides an in-depth exploration of the components of LIVECell, including benchmarks to evaluate experiments and performance. Furthermore, it offers details for assessing transferability between LIVECell and other datasets. Lastly, the article discusses and reviews the methodology behind LIVECell.
